Default 2014 XC/XR 8-Ball models

I didn't see this posted elsewhere, so I am going to throw it out there that I think we will be seeing 8-Ball versions of the XC/XR for 2014. I didn't find any other recent TM applications by Polaris for motorcycles, so these two could be the only new models for a while.

In April 2013 Polaris applied for trademarks for a "Cross Country 8-Ball" and a "Cross Roads 8-Ball". Looking at their past filings, they seem to apply for the TM anywhere from 3-8 months before they release the model.

Of course nothing is confirmed, but its a good indicator that have something in the works.

Here is the XC 8-Ball info:

The XR application was submitted the same day.

What do you guys think?

'08 Triumph Street Triple 675 (GF's bike but I ride it more than she does)

I think this is great detective work. Kudos!

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I agree, but Victory always takes all the extras off the 8 balls (such as cruise, heated seat, heated grips etc).

True and lowers the price accordingly (usually). They could be add-on's for those who want them. Of the 3 mentioned; I would only want the cruise control but mine has never worked right anyway so...

The popular thinking is Polaris/Victory/Indian put everything they have into getting a new Indian Chief ready for release. Victory is doing well as they are so a couple of years of coasting won't hurt a thing as long as the quality is there. They could improve on some areas like paint quality and applying a coat or three of clear. Probably a few other small items to improve on that only they know about through customers bringing the bikes back to be fixed under warranty.

An 8-Ball X bike would be great for those who want a good start to doing a dark custom. It's always better to paint tins that have been painted before since most the prep work is already done.

Let's see, starting price on a new XC is $19k if I remember right.

Do you think they could knock that down to 16k or 17k in 8-Ball form without the stereo and other luxuries?

They did try a Vision 8-Ball but it didn't sell well and was discontinued but the X bikes are far more popular for customizing.

According to what was submitted to the C.A.R.B. those Cross-8Balls may be early 2015 models. The 2014 models show the Vision Tour, the XC, XC tour and XC tour 15th anniversary, the XR Classic, The Hammer and Vegas 8balls, the Judge, the high-ball and the Boardwalk. It looks like Ma Vic killed off the Hard-ball and [gasp] the Jackpot!
Here's the link:

First the Kingpin, now the Jackpot. Why kill off the prettiest bikes?

Default adding after purchase = $$$$

vic cheaped the hammer removing the dual disc, not good IMO adding items you want costs more later! vic needs to allow custom order bikes, not just bolt ons but better brakes and the better inverted forks on models with the cheaper old style forks! i asked a salesmen at a demo ride if vic used damper rods or a cartridge in the conventional forks, he had NO clue!!!

To play devils advocate; I have yet to see any salesman on any showroom floor of any make motorcycle know much about the product. They only know the basics and then if you want to get down into the granular info they call the service manager. With Vic's I must confess to not knowing if they know much more. Hopefully yes but I imagine it really depends on the dealership and how much business they do with the Victory line. Many times it's just a side business (unfortunately).

What brand are you used to dealing with the salesman knowledgeable about the intricacies of every bike on the floor or catalog?

I'd like to visit that place...

Wasn't the Hard Ball a Crossroads 8-Ball for the most part?
Wasn't the Crossroads discontinued all except the 'Classic' (non-numbered LE)?
Didn't the Vision 8-Ball flop and get discontinued right away?

2006 Victory Kingpin
Lloydz 116" Stroker/Big Bore, .495 Cams, Torque Tubes Airbox,
RPW Thor Pipe, Lloydz ECU Flash, PC-III, PTS (-2), Rivera
Primo Clutch Spring, 31 Tooth Pulley w/Buell Belt.
