1999 V92c recall fix potential
I bought this bike about a week ago. Called my local dealer to run my VIN and see what, if any, recalls have been performed on the bike. One of the service managers pulled up the info on the bike. No recall work has been done to it. It requires the transmission fix, fuel fix, lug/axle fix and fuel filter fix. I wouldn't be concerned if most of this stuff wasn't safety issues, but almost all of it is. I guess I should have done my homework before purchasing the bike, which would have involved contacting the dealer and waiting to see what Victory said about doing the work. However, I love this bike, and I was told by one of the service managers that he wasn't sure if Victory will still cover the recalls because the bike is so old. So I guess it comes down to a professional dilemma for me. If you built the bike, it's your responsibility to make it right for safety's sake, no matter how old it is. If I bought this bike brand new in 99, rode it for 1500 miles, then died of some horrible disease and left it to my son. It was in storage for 8 years. He pulled it out and started riding it and the transmission issue sent him thru a fence and paralyzed him. The only liable party is the manufacturer.
I hope that they cover what should be covered. Otherwise, get these bikes off the street somehow before someone gets killed.
