Default Misc Observations

After looking at several Wal-Marts, I finally found one that carried antennas and was able to pick up one of the Scoche RMA 900's. I really like the style and look of this thing on the bike and it does work better than the first shorty antenna I had tried. All but one station I have programmed are coming in better. The exception is the station located a good 50 miles away that sometimes doesn't even come in that well in my car. As others have said, well worth the $9.

Second, last night I heard in person (rather than a video) a set of the Tri-Oval mufflers and they are without a doubt exactly what an exhaust should sound like. I have had over a dozen bikes and even more than as many exhaust systems and none sounded as sweet. To me, many of the mufflers and muffler mods make the Vic sound more like a car. Such is not the case with the Tri Ovals. If I were to design in a lab an exhaust note, it would sound just like what the T-Os are producing. Yes, this is subjective but to me Cobra nailed it dead on with these.

I had the Tri's on my Vulcan 1700 and I liked them. Different motors have different exhaust notes even when using the same slip-ons. I have heard the Tri's on a Vic and I have to say that my D&D's flat out blew them away. 3 members of the my dealership came out and agreed the D's were deeper and when pulling away they have a more authoritive note. Definately 2 different sounds.

The tri-ovals look cool as all get out but my pick is the D's. To each his own.

I had a V&H full system on a Vulcan 2000 that were so deep, they sounded like a souped up V-8 and not a motorcycle. While it sounded impressive and authoritative, it was too much of a good thing. It didn't take me long to ditch the de-cored stock mufflers with a 3" tail pipe for something else mostly because the sound was too much of a good thing.

Totally with you on both points. Just recently put on the Scoshe, and didn't notice any degradation in reception quality. It looks so much better, and also is no longer in the way when covering the bike.

Regarding the Tri Ovals, I too have had numerous bikes with aftermarket exhausts on each, and these have to be the most all around satisfying compromise I have ever found. I have the choice of keeping them tame at low RPM's to not annoy people, like when around home, or around the LEO's that are looking to tag loud bikes, but when out on the open road they sound so good at open throttle.

More than a few of my HD riding buddies have commented on how good they sound. One of them even has a set on his RG, but there is a distinct difference in they way his sounds compared to my XC. They both sound good, just different. That's pretty cool actually.

Went to Walmart yesterday and picked up the last Scoche rma 900antenna. For $8.88 what the heck. Came with all the adaptor screws and one of them is a fit. Mine is a rubber antenna and for the money I give it a try. Was hoping for something more ridged. Nice to put the bike cover on now.
