Default Advertising for Victory

Well...As someone once said...."They have gotten my goat" (not sure what it is supposed to mean..but that's how I feel) Let me start out by confirming that I do truly love my bike (Victory Vegas 2010)...problem I have is the dealer. I have been ignored and lied to for about the last time. The first time was about aftermarket accessories....then the Gen Manager contacted me and cooled things down,so, like an idiot I went back to them to have things done. Guess what...? Right back to the same bullshit again.....you may as well take a long leak into a hurricane head wind than to try and get any satisfaction from Polaris.....So, I decided what I am going to do is buy a 1/2 page....yes, a full half page and do some advertising for them in their (not mine) home town paper...and it won't be dishonest but rather directly to the point....maybe then I will get some straight facts.....it's a shame that a good bike has wads like this selling and supposedly servicing them...anyone else have any suggestions...? Thanks.....Paul

First of all, I can understand your frustration as it has happened to me in other areas. But, you will first want to look into the legal issues before you do this. There are a lot of BS about slander in the system these days and even if 100% of everything you quote is verifiable, you could still be sued. If you don't have it recorded, you can't use it. If you don't have a witness, you can't use it. If there is a "potential" for a mis-understanding....

I think you get the idea. I am not a lawyer but there is some good audio articles on this on the NPR website so take a listen and then if you still feel like doing this, go for it.

Here is a good article of a guy who could not get satisfaction for a $400K car he had bought. He then produced a video of himself and others completely TRASHING the car to the point of junk. He was in his legal limits and it brought a lot of bad publicity for Lambo without any problems. You could always tell Victory corporate that you are considering something in similar fashion but would like to amicably settle it first. What can they do...

1) Your rant actually told us nothing about your situation, so we don't know what you're talking about

2) If you take the steps you outlined, they can and will sue the hell out of you. And they will win.

Take your issues to another dealer. Get them to help you. Hopefully they will take care of the problems the other dealer created, and report the incident(s) to Victory. Franchise or not, Victory has control over how shops are run that bear their name.

Not happy? Take it to the State's Attorney's Office and Better Business Bureau. Consumer rights can also be brought to light by local news stations, they usually have a reporter who works with consumers and exposes negligence/fraud.

Paul
I see Northern NY in your post. There is a particular dealer in the North that has a poor rep. I won't name it on this forum. However there are 2 very good dealerships and maybe three that should be considered. PM me and maybe we can discuss this.

You say there a problem with a after market part.
So be polite and get a hold of the people who made the part. See what they have to say. Keep in mind you get more with honey then being a jerk.
As for the dealer look for some one ells.
Your just going to get your ass in deep shit with a news paper add.

Contact the regional manager and let them know what's up. You could also post the problem on the Victory Motorcycles FaceBook page. There are a couple of Victory factory reps that watch FaceBook and respond.

I would advise you to just take your buisness elsewhere. Also not sure if you are going to give the dealer or t
Victory the bad press. If you are going to slam anyone it should be the dealer and not Victory

I still say walk away and take your business elsewhere

I drive 90 miles for my bike because the dealer 2 miles away is a total jerk

Thanks for the advice and comments I really do appreciate them....I have had a little time to "cool off" so to speak. I did the next best thing.....I didn't deal further with the dealer but instead went to the owners place and discussed it with him and he was very nice about it and assurres me that he would address it with those responsible....I left still upset but a little less so knowing that my bike will be done this week......thanks again.....

I am a lawyer. I don't know any more about your situation than what you have said here, which wasn't really much more than a rant without a roadmap. However, I can tell Paul that, as long as he states the absolute truth, he has nothing to worry about. The truth is an absolute defense to claims of both libel and slander in the US. You can take out all the newspaper ads you want, even make a sign and walk in the vicinity of the dealer if you dare.

That being said, the better advice is to take your issues to another dealer and stop communicating with the problem dealer. Make your complaints known and tell the dealer that you intend to make your problems with them known to everyone you know that's looking for a bike. Reputation is extremely important when it comes to making sales, especially when trying to sell luxury toys in a poor economy.

Those situations are never good, and usually don't end well. Don't expect much.

Good luck.
