The band I saw on my 22nd birthday was called "Breeze". They played in one of the nicer dives on Gate 2 street outside Kadena AFB.

Zoso???

My age shows badly when my best was a tie between John Hiatt with the Guilty Dogs and Dan Fogleberg. Fogleberg had nothing but a piano, 6 & 12 string guitar and a glass of bourbon. Thanks for making me feel old. oh for the days of Iron Butterfly, Led Zep and Stepphenwolf.

Robert Plant on the Now&Zen tour 5/29/88.
It was the first tour that he was doing Zep tunes.
It was Poplar Creek just outside of Chicago
This band was amazing.
I also saw them in 1990 on the Manic Nirvana tour.
At Alpine Valley in Wisconsin.

I saw Zep thirteen times.
Sure wish I could remember some of them.

That ain't right. I do remember bits but my brains natural inclination was to disassociate itself from data retention while I'm holding my eyeballs in place with my thumbs lest they fall out of the sockets since my face was melting... on a good night.

Hey, it was the only responsible thing to do under the circumstances. You can't go through life with an accurate record of those times. It's in my best interest that I only have snippets of a couple of decades to reconcile. Life is too short to qualify every potentially fatal interlude.

During the early 70's my brain did not want to be seen in public with me. It's like my wife. Sometimes now it reminds me of things I said and did back in the day that definitely left a mark.

Liberal Hippie.

To bring this around to bikes, I used to go to Hara Arena in Dayton to watch concerts. It used to be a stop for popular bands, but now it wouldn't make a nice sized high school basketball court.

Anyway, for a long time the concerts there were chaos. Everyone drugged out, pissing in sinks, cracking each other over the heads with whiskey bottles, you name it.

At some point Hara decided to hire security, so they got rent a cops who stood quietly by until everyone had beaten the piss outta one another and then escorted them out.

Apparently, they must have still gotten flack from the general public as next they hired the "Bear" patrol. This was a gang of gianormous bikers. It actually got to be more fun to sit outside in the parking lot and party and watch the side doors. Every half hour or so someone would try to sneak in or get tossed out for other reasons and these guys would knock them silly.

All was good until they pilfered my girlfriends weed before going into a show. At that point, I turned in my fan card.

Which brings me around to another point. When the hell did Amuricans become such polo shirt wearin shmucks? I won tickets to see Fleetwood Mac on the radio several years back and went to a big facility in Cincinnati to see them. Couldn't even smoke cigarettes let alone party favors in the place and people held flash lights in lieu of lighters.

I will say the music was good and I actually paid more attention to the paid entertainment than I used to.

At that age I was attending concerts by people like Country Joe and the Fish. I am an old fart and simply do not recognize your band.

The best I saw, based on audience getting into it, was Chuck Berry at the Cape Cod Coleseum. Long long ago.
