Default Opinion of a Lowly Newb

So I'm pretty new to THIS forum, but I've looked around. There is lots of knowledge out there but it's not all well organized and you often times have to sort through lots of opinions to get kernels of truth.

One thing I've seen done in a couple car forums is creating a database of dyno's. So if anyone gets gets access to dyno whether it be through the course of tuning or just using it for wanting to see what their bike has got. They could then upload those into one gallery and it could be our own personal library. post your dynograph, post your bike and mods and and we could all share in the collective knowledge and maybe it would help some people from making purchases they may regret. ANNNND by having our own knowledge base maybe people could reach their own good conclusions faster and with out asking as many enough questions to overwhelm guys like rylan or calling Lloydz for things that should be easily searchable by an individual on here.

Yeah not trying to be a debbie downer, and maybe that option is on here somewhere and I missed it

Hey Mike ...... Welcome! (Fairly new myself)

So what you are suggesting is a thread that contains our Dyno runs , with the modifications made to achieve it ......

I did a quickie search ,using several word combinations, and didn't find such a thread....... That doesn't mean it doesn't exist...only that I didn't find it.

I do know that another forum has a thread like that .....
I know Lloydz has some charts on his website, along with his recommendations.....

I think a thread like that here would be cool ..... And maybe the admin could 'Pin it' to the top of the sub forum.?

Here is a link to a local automotive performance shop in MN that I believe has the same idea as the OP.

http://www.maperformance.com/dynodatabase.html

They just set it up so there isn't much of a database to it, yet. I can see once something like this gets built on and more and more info gets added how it could be extremely helpful to people seeking this type of information.

Yep ..... There are 8 pages of threads that contain the words 'dyno or run ' .....

Many have some Dyno's posted within.....many do not.

What the OP is referring to , I believe, is one source to go to , that contains dyno runs input by us , showing what different combinations of upgrades can net you...... Whether it be a single thread, or an actual data base , dunno.....

Great idea... as long as somebody else spends hours of their time to do the work.... I say embrace the chaos, organization is overrated.

Default Correct sir..

Pj, that is exactly what I'm referring to.

It's worked out really well on a couple car forums.

Lance I don't think it would require an extraordinary amount of work like you seem to think.

A picture gallery dedicated to dyno's.
The title of picture could be your year, make, model
A comment with all your mods and voila.

You could search by title for your bike or bikes that had the same motor. And go through and compare and contrast different mods easily.

Pj understood exactly what I'm talking about... I'm sure the long time members know mostly which parts they prefer and why, but for someone new to the forum if you search so and so pipe and dyno, or horsepower or any of a various conformations of search phrases you will get what you want for the most part, but you will have to sort through a lot of crap to get it.

As victory sales are increasing, and hopefully continue to do so thereby creating a bigger aftermarket for us, we will also have more and more new guys coming into the forum.

I'm gonna have to agree that this forum is one big jumble f*-k of threads, unlike any other forum I frequent. There are few sticky's and the search function is almost useless. But yes there are some great information threads but you have to find them if your lucky.

That's exactly what I'm trying to eliminate the need to do...
If we have our own user sourced database then we don't need to call Rylan or Lloyd'z to ask for advice on this part or that part.
You could (a lot more easily) look at people with similar set ups and see which parts work well together and which parts don't.

I didn't want to admit which car forum it was but it was evoxforums.com
I used to have a ricer.. but man it was retarded fast all wheel drive sex on wheels.

http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=76

I don't think you can access that with out being a member though. Its their dyno page.

One thing I didn't think about, was that their application is a lot easier because they are only one generation of one car, with very slight variances.

So maybe we could have different performance sections for different generations?
I just really like the way their forum is organized. I think any of you could go there and learn very quickly a lot about how to make an Evo X go fast reliably.

I know we can call lloyds or rylan but sometimes i just don't want to ask someone else or take their word for it. I like to make my own decision based off of the information and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Besides if i were a shop owner I wouldn't want my phones ringing off the hook answering questions about x intake or y intake for your specific set up, especially if it was a product i didn't sell or they were going to buy it online elsewhere anyway.

I think lloyds and rylan are great resources and can answer the very technical stuff, and lloyds has shown to create and design products that work. Let's let them focus on that.
