Default My first long distance ride.

This Thursday a few of my friends and I are doing my first long distance ride. Leaving from Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Going to Sandusky Ohio. Should be fun.

Wow are you from the eastern Iowa/Western Illinois area? I live in the quad cities! I haven't seen very many Victories in the area, so it's always good to hear of another one.
There really is nothing like your first long distance ride! I always try to pack as light as possible. I hate having my bike loaded up/weighed down so much that I can't find anything when I need it. Also it gets really old packing and unpacking it on rides that take several days or weeks. Remember, you can always pick something up a couple extra shirts while on the trip, as they make great souvenirs!

Yes. I live in North West Davenport. Work at the Arsenal. I don't see to many other victories around here either. But I know there is one other person that rides on that works on the Island. But that is the only other one I have notices so far.

I'm ridding out to Cedar Point Ohio to that amusement park with my two friends I work with.(both HD guys). But that is one of the reasons why I didn't want a HD. Because everyone has one. And I refused to get something that everyone else has. If you see a candy apple red 06 Jackpot around. That is probably me. Like you said. Not many around here.

I'm also in Davenport and work at St. Ambrose University. My wife and I were just talking about wanting to head out to Cedar Point possibly next month. Looks like a good time and a nice ride.
I'm on a 2011 Hammer 8ball. I'm sure we'll probably run into each other at some point.

I wonder what route you'll take. Just ran the Davenport/Sandusky trip through Google Maps and came up with 442/463 miles.

That made me smile because Sunday, I did a little loop through Central Texas on the Vision. 463 miles.
I had intended to go more like 600+ but I got off on a bad gravel road for a few miles and then rode into a good rainstorm.
Decided to take a nap after that, ended up getting home just after 9, but before it was completely dark.

Trust you'll have a great little trip and if you get a chance go through Goshen Indiana and visit the South Side Soda Shop!

LOL It is a straight shot to Sandusky. I-80 goes through Davenport Iowa all the way to Sandusky. We might go to the R&R hall of fame. But I don't know. That is more my wife and some other friends style.

Remember, you can never ride too safe. Riding in a group increases some of the dangers, including running into your group mates, or them running into you. Try to be as obvious and predictable as possible to them in your intentions (to slow down, accelerate, stop) and always keep a safe distance, especially in your first group rides. I hope you enjoy a safe and pleasant ride, and come back and tell us how it was.

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Riding: 2011 Cross Roads & 2016 Springfield
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Thank you CR. I agree. And appreciate the advice. You don't know my history. And I appreciate any and all advice. This is just my first long distance ride with this bike. I have done the long distance ride with some other bikes I have had. And am always couscous. And wear my gear. Even though I don't always locally. Even though I should. LOL
