Yeah...so...they let me take this for a ride.

Damn them.

I am looking to get a more touring style bike in a year or two. Started doing research and some test rides. Some good things out there, but this grabbed me...hard.

Like, if someone offered a halfway reasonable offer on my new Vulcan, I'd have this, or one very much like it (I like the black better), by the weekend.

In reality though, it's gonna take something seriously special to knock this one out of the #1 spot. It may be a year or two down the road but everyting I've heard, read, and now rode tells me I'm gonna end up on a Victory.

I just bought the thing back in April though. I made it all pretty and loud and stuff too. I do want to enjoy it for a while.

...but yeah. If someone offered what I owe plus a little, I'd probably take it. Last car payment is next week too...le' sigh.

Well there ya go. Pay off the car, and go get the xr, use the Vulcan for commuting, and cruising on the xr. I switch up, two or three days on one, then the other. Plus, the little lady will enjoy the xr much more than the Vulcan, especially if it's a custom!

Do you feel that hook in the corner of your mouth.
I read your other post and your in big trouble now. Being a old druggie this motorcycle drug will really get you. Now that you have seen what you like quiet dreaming and trade that Kaw inn. The new models will be out at the end of the month so what the dealer has should be cheaper and if you go to victorys web site they might be having a deal of a thousand off.
We are all addicts here we buy chrome and more chrome and wax's and washes and clothes and then there is another chrome part.
We start out with a fifty mile ride then its a hundred and fifty mile rid then it goes into a over nightr then a week trip then a three week trip. Then the snow comes and we look for a trailer so we can go some place warm to ride for a week. Dam some one just came out with new exhaust. Nothing wrong with what we have but the others look so cool.

Buy the bike its the only way you will sleep at night and if you don't you will make your self sick thinking about it.
Well I just though of a place to have a good salmon dinner its a hundred and thirty miles one way so I'll see you there. Don't be late. Sorry about the hook. He He

Visionjohnny you sound a bit like a cellphone salesman! Throw in a couple of 4G's and a WiFi and you're ready for a part time job.

Shaman I bet you wish like hell you would have found Victory before you settled on the lil 900. That's alright; resale isn't too bad and if you added extras you should see them seperately - you lose your @$$ when you trade/sell a bike with the goodies. Put the Kaw in the classifieds and see what happens. If you have a dealer that will take trades ask for payoff and agree to pay the price the dealer has on it now. The dealer will still come out good when the option is taking up to $1500 off the Victory.

When I was looking I had ridden Kawasaki and Honda. I wasn't looking for a bigger touring type bike at the time. Also, I wanted a bit less expensive. What I knew of Victorys was limited, and I am guilty of not doing due diligence in my research at the time.

Now I realize I shoulda aimed a little bigger. So, I'm enjoying the hell outta my Vulcan while I research, test ride, put together lists of goodies, etc...

I have yet to take any Harleys out for a test ride, but I will. Until I rode that Victory the Kawasaki Nomad was kicking everythings ass. Now...is gonna take something REAL special to knock the VIc out of the top spot. I just have to decide Cross Roads or Country. Still iffy on the fairing...

Lotsa good info so far, back to reading some of it.

Run a search on my name and posts and you will find one outlining the XR vs. XC as well as XC vs. Road Glide/Street Glide observations

Got back from a 2100 mile ride a few days ago and the Cross Roads was great - it gobbles up the miles better than any other ride I have had the last 35 years....even highway riding is fun -- thats saying something!
