Default Folks I am not a moderator

Hey all,

Just an FYI I am not a moderator or admin on the forums any longer, its actually been a couple of years now.

Please direct your questions to the mods and admin.

I just happen to sign in and saw a lot of PM's about issues.

Diamond, good to hear you're still alive and kicking. Stop by more often and say "hi."

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I'm not saying he's not but the site could use more than one, he's doing a fine job but I think he just needs some help I would say. Since we're somewhat on the subject I think some of the popular threads need to be sticky'd and a lot of threads lose there direction sometimes (just like I did here, lol)...

Are you asking him to share the power? That seems to have terrible endings.

Not necessarily, but coming from being a regular on Kawiforums where they had 4-5 moderators , the forum ran smooth and all bases where covered . It wasn't about chain of command but rather having kick ass forum with 4-5 different views on the directions it should go . In no way am I saying CR isn't doing his moderator duties but he cannot be everywhere at once and would have a different view or perspective on how the forum should be displayed to the viewing public than say another moderator. I do think this forum is one of the harder forums to navigate, and great informative threads disappear and could be helpful to a lot of people if they were stickied so we don't get the same redundant questions all the time .....

Multiple MODs is a good thing. I was a part of one of those teams for a few years on a forum outside the motorcycle world.
We did need to set up a set of rules for the MODs to live by and whenever we took an action to fix up something in the forum we had a central location, actually a locked out and invisible forum section, where we posted what we were up to. That kept us all working together to maintain order in a forum with well over 1000 visits per day and at least 100 posts on a really slow day.
No one person could have even visited all of the daily posts and read them so we shared the power and critiqued each other on our actions to keep things consistent for the members. It works OK on any forum but was essential on a high volume forum like that one.

What power? A moderator's the forum janitor, always cleaning the nastiest parts of the joint.

Each forum is different. This one has a lot of automated anti-spam tools, including sharing lists of IPs of offending spammers on sister forums under the same ownership, automatically suspending posts that appear as spam. Most spam directed at our forum gets blocked by one of these features. Some makes it through, but it always gets caught, reported, and the offending poster gets banned with the threads deleted.

This is why you all have the power to report posts. I look at each reported post and take action when/if necessary.

Problem with sticky threads, if I sticky everything important, you end up seeing nothing but sticky threads, and new threads drop off the page. It's good to have a few (which we do), but once you have more than 5-10 sticky threads, you end up staring at the same threads all the time.

Search feature (2nd box from the top/right) is your best friend.
