Nice write-up !

I've gone only twice,07 & 08 Good time & good crowds each time, along with good weather....and tons of vendors...+ a great parking lot show. And as you stated the area in general is just made for motorcycles.

I think attendance at all motorcycle events is down ? IMO due to mostly the economy.

My [annual] event is Mid-Ohio Vintage days & the SuperBike races. Big change in attendance at those as well.........sign of the times I suppose.

Nice writeup, I went for my very first time last year, sadly didn't get a chance to go this year.
I have a question for you... how did you carry your old seat home after buying the new one?

There's that, but it could be that Wingers are getting on in age and don't really see the point. I love the area. I rode through there a few years ago. But last time I participated in Americade (98?) the rooms were overpriced, the cops were harassing people, the restaurants were strained and service was awful.

Personally, I prefer to visit when others ain't.

Hoot couldn't break even so it died. Broggy's prolly right about Americade too unless the cruiser people come to the rescue. That kinda get together better fits their party all night lifestyle than the blue hair early bird special crowd. Still, it was cool taking in rides to local attractions and restaurants by people who planned it out and knew where to go.

Oh well, we got GPS now I guess.

The cruiser folk have definitely been encroaching on the GoldWingers territory. Every year, it seems like there's more Harleys and fewer gold wings. Granted, most of the Harleys are touring bikes, but not all of them.

This was my 15th Americade in a row. I can understand some people are starting to get tired of it.

Hey Broggyr,

Great write-up, thanks!

This was only our 2nd visit to Lake George and we had the same take away as you did. Last year was very busy during the week compared to this year. We arrived on Monday afternoon and left on Friday morning last year and Main St. and both vendor areas were very busy. We only did a day trip this year. We expected it to pick up on the last weekend and it sounds like it did somewhat. We were really surprised at the low rider and vendor attendance this year and I think there are many factors weighing in on the light rider attendance. Your prediction for the future of Americade may be a reality.

We are skipping Lake George next year because our plan is to go to either Myrtle Beach, SC or Helen, GA or both in May 2015.

I think the Wing lost allot of it's appeal after 9/11..when the patriotic wave swept the country...jmo

The wingers are getting old we all are...I see more grey hair on motorcycles then ever before.

I agree about the crowds. I went to Americade twice...once out of curiosity & the next year because some friends wanted to go.
I just don't really care for the crowds . Sturgis, Bikeweek, etc...have no appeal at all too me.

My buddy [real Honda nut] talked me into going to the Hoot once...we both were sorry.
