Talking Had a Great Black Friday Ride

Weatherman said today was going to be great weather wise and he was correct. Mid 60's woohoo

Had to do a little of the shopping thing this morning but after lunch J said the day was ours so we geared up and headed out. Wanted to getting out into the country and away from all the madness LOL

We ended up doing a ride to Ripley Ohio. This is one of our favorite destinations in Southwestern Ohio and is usually a "Day" trip. Sadly this is the first time we made it there this year (crazy year)

Here are some pics from the trip

In Ripley on the River

Riding along Highway 52 that follows the Ohio River

Our Riding companions that Join us on every ride LOL

This was a great test for my new mirror extensions and my new CeeDragon windshield. Love the view these new mirror extension give, outstanding field of view behind me now.

I got my CeeDragon windshield Wednesday and put it on that night. I chickened out and ordered the 18" even though their website recommended the 19" for my height. Took it for a spin Wednesday night and although there is much less wind on my upper body I was still getting a bunch to the face (no buffeting though). If I slouched down it is dead calm.

On todays ride, I did not have an issue with the wind in the face and after a couple hours on the bike, my posture starts to slouch anyway LOL. I am going to try and put some rubber washers under the top hole and see if it will deflect the wind a tad higher. Even if it doesn't I will keep the shield I love the looks and construction. Maybe in another year or so I might order a taller one but no hurry. Heck there may be more choices for shields by then anyway.

Hope everyone had a great Friday like J and I did, no work for us today and a 175 mile bike trip = a great Friday

Great pix and sounds you had a really nice ride. Your pix really make me homesick for the Midwest.

I got out to ride to work for a few hours then to clean up for our Thanksgiving tomorrow. I hit a few pretty good wind gusts today.

I haven't been to Ripley. I generally follow 68 across into Kentucky and then ride their back roads back over to 75 or 275 and take the highway home. Are there things of interest there or just a good spot to grab lunch?

There is a nice looking seafood restaurant that I've been wanting to try sometime. It's off 68 (on the right headed south) near the border. I always seem to go by there early and come back west of there. Maybe next time I'll reverse my path so I can check it out.

Looks like you got good weather again tomorrow. I'll be stuck in the house entertaining family. Enjoy.

We usually eat at that restaurant that I took a pic in front of. Not much to do there, it is our turnaround point. We have about 4 different routes into Ripley, one is very reminiscent of the Tail of the Dragon (very intense) but only about 4 miles long LOL. Great scenery year around.

We haven't crossed the river to KY yet, there is a ferry to cross the river just north of Ripley on 52 around the town of Utopia.

It was very windy today, didn't settle down until around 5pm

Would love to ride again tomorrow, but heading to see my Cuz who just had Quad Bypass

The least you could do is give an Ohio brother a route number. Finding 4 miles of twisty roads in south western Ohio is like finding the needle in a haystack.

The roads there are nice, but there are a lot of blind hills to crest. 10 to 22 is one of my favorites. 8 along the river is pretty tame.

Ohio 763 into Aberdeen. The route drops down into the river valley. There are some nasty drop offs and very few guard rails. It has been repaved in the last 2 years so the road is in excellent condition. Do watch out for loose gravel. I occasionally ride with a group called "Two Wheeled Therapy Tours". They had a couple members go down on that route over the years. (They tend to ride aggressive) J and I like to feel the twisties but we don't push it. Also don't be tempted to look at the Goergous scenery stay focused on the road so that you "stay" on the road LOL

Enjoy

Thanks Lazy! Gawd I love the Internetz. This is just south of where I normally turn down 68 into Tuky. I've ridden on plenty of roads parallel 763 south further east, but I don't ever recall 763. If I'm not too hungover tomorrow, it will be mine!
