Default $250 for Inspection?

I told my dealer I want to go on a trip in a couple weeks, and want them to look the bike over and make sure everything was in order.

He said it included a belt/cable adjustment, oil change (which i just did, he said it wouldn't be any cheaper) and visual inspection of tires, pads, plugs, and suspension. Parts extra of coarse.

I'm familiar with cars and trucks so I can maintain those things.

But this being my first bike, I'd like someone whose been around bikes taking a look at it. Unless they were WAAAY out of adjustment, i probably wouldn't realize whether the cables or belt needed adjusting.

I'm just on the fence whether it's worth it.

Is $250 a reasonable rate for that kind of job?

Of coarse if I was made of money I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm on a fairly tight budget though.

Report them to the BBB - thats absurd for a "Vehicle Inspection"

Should be at the most - 1 hr and refundable if they find work and you have the work done by them.

Save your money and when it comes time for a new bike, choose a dealer that won't forget you just dropped 20 g's there.

Absolutly agree with VJ. Download the manual and use some of the cash you would have spent on a good jack for your bike.
