Default Set up and shiping charges

About how much should I expect to pay on set up and shipping charges?for a new Victory motorcycle? I'm looking at buying an unsold 2013 and I want to be sure I'm getting the best deal. I almost feel like I should be able to get a 2015 for the money but this is my first new bike.

uhmm...nothing. I've bought 2 new Victory bikes from my dealer and have never paid for shipping or set up. I don't have to ask for it, it's just the way they do business. They knocked 3 grand off msrp for the '14 CCT and no set up no shipping...no fees of any kind. From what I gather, most dealers don't do that. Good luck!

Which model are you looking at? Popular models are a little harder to negotiate. Later in the year is easier to buy. Left over model that is sitting around is easier for you to offer a price . Problem with Victory is that they build x-amount of bikes then store them in a warehouse. Expect the dealers to sell at full price. If truth be know they still have 2011 2012 bikes in storage somewhere. Victory is trying to capitalize on popularity shoppers, trying to get the most bang for the buck. They have killed off the cruiser line which to me was a big mistake. If you want females buyers you have to have more choices of a price line up. My opinion is they are trying to be the Cadillac of motorcycles, which they are not. Limited colors and not really a option on the bikes you buy. Most dealers do not have accessories in stock. Most dealers have the Japanese bikes to fall back on to so negotiating a Victory deal does not really mean live or die for there business. I would shop around if this is your first bike. Used sometimes is better to learn on. Also paying CASH is a good negotiating tool.

Forget about setup, shipping, and whatever fees a dealer imposes. It is all part of the price of the bike. They can charge whatever they want but your concern is what you are paying for the bike before tags, title, and taxes because these vary from state to state. You need to shop around. A 2013 is a 2 year old bike now so I would not pay any thing more than 25% off of MSRP at this time of year with all the rebates Victory has out now.

My dealer doesn't charge for shipping or set up... But I know some dealers who do... Some will lower the price if you fight them on it!
Most dealers will use that as an bargaining chip, And throw that in for no charge to make the sale...

If you don't wave to them'
They won't wave back to you....

When negotiating a price, tell the dealer you want an "out the door" number. This eliminates any surprises at signing. Many dealers will say they don't charge prep but the bottom line may already include it. If within a reasonable distance, shop two dealerships.

If you live within an hour of 5 states like I do then you will need to have the dealer quote out the door with the taxes you pay in your state. Taxes,tags, and title vary greatly from state to state. Some states like TN have a rather large sales tax but you get to deduct your trade-in (if you have one) from the taxable amount. Other states like VA have a lower tax on a vehicle but you pay property tax on it each year and you don't get to deduct the trade in value off the taxes. The main thing is to SHOP AROUND! Call every dealer in a 5 hour radius and you will find a few that are willing to deal.

Same in RI, taxed every year and no trade in allowance; you are taxed on the sale price and not minus the trade value. The sales tax is 7% and yearly property tax is no fun either. We should change the state moto from "The Ocean State" to "The Just Pass'in Through State"

Set up and shipping charges are like people.....no two are alike.

Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. If you're comfortable and they're comfortable you get a bike!
