I'm a brand new XCT owner, four days now (see https://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=10263
). With the bike, I also purchased the temp-gauge dipstick.
I put it in yesterday, and I'm somewhat confused regarding getting it out. I understand that the temp dial rotates, and in fact I did rotate it; I turned the dial clockwise, after I think the dipstick was fulling screwed in, for a better viewing angle and so that the dipstick itself wasn't loosened.
Then, it occurred to me to try to take it out. Unscrewing just seemed to rotate the dial. I tried squeezing the rubber covering of the dial pretty hard, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. I noticed that the very bottom of the dipstick is knurled, but the knurling is not very deep, making getting a good grip difficult. Plus, that knurling is way down at the bottom, where you have to manage to squeeze your hand in between the exhaust piping.
So, question one: is there some trick to getting this out, some tips?
Next, the stock dipstick has much wider (plastic) markings, for low and full. The temp dipstick's shaft has two little lines.
Question two: has anyone come across some good indelible, oil-proof, marker, to perhaps make it easier to see the oil level lines?
I've searched the site for this issue, and all I could come up with was this two-year-old post, which doesn't really answer my questions: https://www.victoryforums.com/archive...hp/t-1938.html
Thanks for any help.
