Default Cobra Power Pro HP needs quietening down.

Guys, I've lost track on where and when over the past 4 weeks I've asked about this so forgive me if I'm repeating.

That said there are updates to mention.

The story thus far is, I purchased a 3000 mile old Hammer S with a stage one kit on it. This included the Victory Performance badged, Cobra manufactured Power Pro HP 2-1 pipe which says "Closed course use only".

I picked the bike up and the sound was loud. So I set about getting the tools and popping out the "baffle". In essence it's a megaphone with a 2 1/2" wide section of packing area. Now I have asked Cobra for any clues and they've been as helpful as they are in a position to be.

Suggested was an after market baffle and thus I bought a SmartPartz baffle / DB killer. This in reality is a plug that reduces the exhaust output hole size from 2 3/16" to 1".

Having drilled and screwed the SmartPartz in place I replaced the burnt and partially blown out packing with Ceramic Fibre packing. Put the pipe back together and whammo.... I still need ear plugs to ride to avoid getting a headache.

I was actually worried the SmartPartz baffle would quieten the sound too much. To give you an idea the sound whilst cruising at 2300 rpm is fine but head into a right hand corner and accelerate out and the pain begins. Whilst not being as loud, the profile of sound is just like a Top Fuel drag car. That and it pops and crackles on overrun.

So I'm not sure what other aftermarket pipes would have a suitable volume output since I read all the time of people wanting to make their pipes louder.

I swear it's thumping 120 db plus at the moment but I'm yet to measure it with my phone app.

That said has anyone else had any experience with this pipe and getting it quietened down.

Sometime ago I was up against a similar problem.
I thought about going this route but in the end I had to buy a different exhaust because of other issues and the problem solved itself.

These are available from summit and supertrapp.

They come in a couple of different sizes. I was just going to find one that was close if possible and weld or have it welded on to the baffle.
You might end up sliding a short piece of exhaust pipe into the baffle and or sliding a exhaust pipe adapter into the baffle and welding it in place. Whatever makes it work.
I have a supertrap exhaust on my fxr and they are very adjustable for noise as well as back pressure.
Less disks get you less noise. Check the supper trap website because there are even more sizes of these than summit carries.
You will still need packing in the muffler for it to be really quiet but they definitely drop the volume and you can reach a compromise between noise and performance. As you reduce your disks you will also pick up some torque down low generally.

I'm more a function over form guy. Tastes may vary.

You could aways try to chamber the muffler like a "turbo" style for a car or like flow master does. It'll kill performance but it'll be quieter. I've heard the cobra exhaust for a 2013 vegas, not sure if it's the same pipe, and it was really quiet for my taste. I resently installed a RPW Thor on my bike and it sounds amazing. But I'm used to extremely loud vehicles and racing events.
