Default cam install question

i went to install the 495 cams in the head and noticed that the carrier does not sit flush.it looks like the rockers or sitting on the valves.i have the lobes in the down position.if i bolt it in i think it will open the valves a little.does anyone have any experience and suggestions on this.

2010 vegas 8-ball
1 1/2 lowering kit
torque tubes,pc-v
vic performance pipe
109 big bore
s&s .495 cams
variable clutch

If the valves do open with the lobes not being contacted, then you have a problem.They should be fully closed until the lobe lifts the rocker. Are you sure you have the correct cams?

i bought it as a kit from av victory.s&s 495 cam and carrier.comes as kit.

2010 vegas 8-ball
1 1/2 lowering kit
torque tubes,pc-v
vic performance pipe
109 big bore
s&s .495 cams
variable clutch

Did you do a search here for cam install
I know there are dots on cams that have to be in proper alignment

i tried to get a hold of lloydz again today.no luck.you would think after you spent 3 grand you could at least speak with someone who had knowledge of bikes.i did talk to rob at s&s and he said to take the carrier apart and install it piece by piece.he said that the rocker was still primed.so it was keeping the carrier from sitting down.i am going to try it tomorrow.hope it works.
