Default engine swap question

I'm already looking forward to the off season projects. My question is will a freedom engine direct fit into a 2001 chassis? Or should I look into a different engine all together? The bike is running fine, but I want to make sure I can keep this bike for a while. Any input would be great.

I'm not even gonna try with if a Freedom will fit or not, but, you must have plenty of life left in your motor now. Victorys have been known to run hard and long.
There's folks out there with over 110,000 + miles. And, if the time comes, a freshening up of your motor is not such a big deal. There's probably many other things to worry about besides that.

The early freedom motors from 2002-2005 are a direct bolt. With a few things to be aware of. I know the 99-00 Vics had a weak charging system not sure if the 01s did, if they do you will want to upgrade the rectifier/regulator (I think this is the name of the part). I changed my throttle body boots while they were out and easy to get to. If you Don't get the oil lines with the motor you will need to buy a few pieces parts to adapt the oil lines. Do a google search and you may find a "article" somewhere with what things you will need to do the job. It is not that hard, I am of average mechanical ability and had the job completed in a few days working on it a couple of hours a day after work. I put a 2002 freedom in my 2000 Sc. The 02 freedoms are geared lower then 03-05 but it rides nice for me. If you have any other questions I will try and answer them for you.

It's not that I have a lot of spare time, but I am a creature of habit. So when I hook into something I like I want to hang on to it. My goal is to put together a collection of parts to keep this bike going for a very long time, like a spare set of tins, engine, electronics, forks, triple trees etc. I'm not rushing out and bying it all at once, but I'm keeping my eyes open at scrap yards and such. I just figured I'd find my options. Plus, this is an '01 so there's still the possibility of transmission issues arising. Thanks for the input.
