Default Stock exhaust removal problem

The stock exhaust on my 06 JP is completely loose with the slip-ons removed. I can't seem to get them off. Do both pipes come off together or do you separate them somehow? Do the heat shields need to be removed? Thanks for any help.

I found the best method was a sawzall. Less than 5 minutes, the stock exhaust was laying on the floor.
