Default Confused about S&S Air Cleaner purchase

First of all my local dealership is not a distributer of S&S parts so they haven't been able to answer my questions very well. I'd like to purchase the S&S Air Cleaner Kit 41-0021 which comes with the Calibration Card for my 07 Vegas. But the sites I've looked at like cyclesolutions.net and lloydz.com only have 106-5130 listed (no Calibration Card). However my main concern is that when I do find and install the Air Cleaner kit my dealership may not be able to reprogram the ECM.

From the instructions: "Reprogramming the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be done by an authorized S&S/Victory dealer using S&S Freedom Performance Tuner which is available to authorized S&S/Victory dealers only."

The guy at our service desk said that if I installed the until and had the Card they would be able to do the rest but this conflicts with what I'm reading from S&S. So does anyone know for sure if all Victory dealers are able to do this or do they have to be S&S distributers to possess the right software?

And where can I buy kit 41-0021?

I know that I could get a power commander 3 instead. But I'm quite confident that this will be the last performance upgrade that I do as I'm mainly doing it for aesthetic reasons (I don't like the black plastic intake box).

I installed mine and then rode it to the dealer. They were able to go to the s&s site and get the download with the card I brought them. And yes they do have to be an S&S Dealer. But it is simple to do from what I understand. If your dealer says he can do it, he most probably can.

I do not buy nothing that I have to depend on someone else to fix. Just me but down the road when you start having problems trying to figure out what caused what. It will cost you money..

From what I know if your dealer is a Victory dealer they should have a laptop with Digital Wrench installed. This allows them to talk to the bikes computer, check engine codes and load calibration maps. They can use the calibration card to access the S&S map needed for your bike and install it.
If they are not a Victory dealer they won't be able to do this and you need to go a different route, like buy the airbox without the calibration card. But you will need to get a fuel controller that will allow you to richen up your fuel mixture...either a VFC or a PC3. I have used both and each has it's pros and cons. The VFC can be dialed in by you but it can only add fuel. The PC3 needs to be dialed in on a dyno but it can add and remove fuel.

i highly advise not getting the s&s download.... the air filter is great but the download sucks. go witha power commander or a dobeck ejk or lloyds fuel managment but DO NOT get the S&S download.

Default Aesthetics and power?

Say what you will the absence of the stock airbox is the number 1 aesthetic change...The S&S gives traditional power and styling I bought mine from a vic dealer and didnt even have it done. My 08 works great with the stage 1 download and exhaust...did I mention how much better the engine breathes?...good luck, worth the look alone
