Proud owner of new XR with an unusual quirk
Couple weeks ago I threatened I would be joining this forum in the near future...yesterday I pulled the trigger on a 2011 Victory Cross Roads!
I love this bike, plenty of power, storage...I constanty forget I have 6 gears instead of 5. But I've noticed something odd...
I have the torque compensator noise...hotter it is the louder it gets. No big, my Vulcan was always pretty noisy. Maybe not THIS noisy, but noisy. Since it seems the noise isn't indicative of impending mechanical failure, we'll see how long I can gut it out.
What I've got, fellas, is a floaty speedo needle! Between about 50 and 70 MPH, the needle will fluctuate as much as 3-4 MPH indicated. The worst area is between 65-70. Doesn't seem to bee a speed sensor issue since I've watched it with the tach up on the display and the cruise control stays steady. when I have it set, the tach does not fluctuate more than 50 rpm, and since that's its smallest increment of measure, I have to assume it's not slippage in the drivetrain either. Logic would lead me to believe it's in the head unit of the gauge.
Anyone else had this issue on their XR/XC, or any other Vic? I've had speedo needles get floaty on me before, but that was in my ol' 78 Chevy pickup. and it was a heap.
