Default Crankshaft question

Hi Folks,

I've been reading about issues (scissoring or going out of balance) with the Harley Twin Cam press fit crankshafts (two halfs pressed together), and wanted to know if the Victory Freedom engine uses a similar design. I believe the answer is no and that Victory uses an automotive style one piece crankshaft, but just want to confirm.

HD crank=tin can, Vic crank=freight train. Stock Vic cranks will take 140, even 170hp builds all day everyday. Try that with a stock HD crank and bring a basket for all the pieces. Here's some comparison videos, one of them shows the 2 cranks side by side.

Thanks very much. I did see those videos. Can't really tell if it's a one piece crank, although I guess you can assume that from the two piece connecting rods? And I guess it is safe to assume it is a one piece crank if they hold those kind of power levels with a stock crank.

Thanks. I don't think he comments on the fact that the crank in the Harley is a press fit. He focuses on the rods having to be hollow because the cylinders are in line (implying weaker rods which I don't think Harley's have an issue with anyway). He doesn't comment on the crank in the Vic either.

Again maybe the rods tell the story, but I'm not mechanically inclined enough to know.

All this is purely academic anyway since the Vic's don't seem to have any crank issues even when pumped way up. Just curiosity getting the better of me.

I have owned Harley and Jap bikes, but the Vic is the better technology compared to the old school Harley. The 2000 Motor is ok but they had cam issues and then valve troubles on the Harley. Tired of all of it wanted something dependable. I just sold a Bombardier made by Polaris never had any problems with it. So I would not worry to much they have a heck of a warranty on the new bikes, 2 years or $500 more dollars for 5 years. Try to get that with a Harley.
