Default Wide Open Custom "Fairings"

I'm ordering a fairing from WOC for my 04 TC in a couple days, I've done some searches and I know several people on the forum has or have had one.

My main concern is what shield hight I should order. I'm just over 6' tall, I was planing on ordering the 10" windshield but most of the pictures I've seen look like most people have the 5.5" shield.

Are people using the shorter shield because they look better? Would the 10" shield be more practical or would it be over kill for my hight and bike?
I've never had a fairing on any of the bikes I've owned so any advice from those who have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If they offer something in between, I would go for that. They use the Harley windshields, so you can change if you need to, they are fairly inexpensive.
I'm 6' and used the 6" on my Electra Glide.
I'm using the Victory Flip on my Cross Country and it seems to be about the same overall height.
The 10" might be a little to tall. The short screen doesn't really do much for me, other than look cool.

Yea I agree the shorter the shield is the better it looks but I have a 75 mile round trip commute to work and back and 67 of them are highway miles, 65 and 75 mph speed limit so I need the shield to be functional.

It looks like they offer 5.5", 8" and 10" shields so I'll need to choose between the 8" or 10". Thanks for the advice..

The hieght of the shield would be determined after seeing how high the top of the fairing is after mounted on your bike. From what i've seen from after market fairings, they usually mount a little higher than like the fiaring on the HD Ultra Classic. At any rate, the Ultra comes stock with a 12" shield and I ended up with a 9 1/2" flip that worked perfect for me to see over and still have some wind protection. I'm 5'8" by the way. Hope this helps.

I have the 5 1/2 " tinted and the 10" clear. It is just like you thought, I like the looks of the short tinted one, but for protection in real cold or long rides, the 10" is nice. I am 5'10" and think I should have gotten the 8 instead of the 10, as I look through the 10, instead of over it.
I only had the 10" inch on for a short time, I usually run with the short one.
Although, I just took the fairing off this weekend and installed the stock windshield for a change of pace. One thing about the fairing is that I notice it gives the front end a heavier less nimble feel. And I hardly ever use the stereo, in favor of an mp3 player.

Thanks for the reply I think I'm going with the 8" clear and order the 5.5" charcoal later. As for the sound system I'm going to put my own together I'm looking at a two Chanel 500 watt amp with usb port and a jack for MP3.

Hey this is a perfect opportunity for you guys with after market fairings to show them off I'm planning on putting my fairing together over the summer. I won't know what I have to work with until it arrives but if I have room or space I'm thinking about maybe adding lights or something. I would love to see your bikes
