Clunk when starting
Well I'm a pretty resourceful person and don't let a whole lot of noises get to me. This MIGHT be a point of concern though. I did a search on this and all I found where "clunk" problems related to shifting, not my situation. Let's see what you all think:
Upon a cold start I hear what I can best describe as 1 or 2 minor clunks sporadically for about 10 seconds, then it's all normal. First I have to say I use the term "cold" as a generalization for starting after the bike has been sitting for 6 hours or more, cus it ain't cold here. Use to only happen once in a while, lately it's been a bit more. Today though when I started it to go get some lunch, there was one pretty loud clunk almost immediately when it started. So after this one, I am really starting to wonder what the hell this could be. Everything runs fine, shifts fine, etc. I cannot tell if it's from the bottom end, top end, either cylinder. It happens so fast and is gone so fast it's hard to tell. I have also heard what seems to be the same sound every once in a while when shutting the bike down. This might be one of those "normal" things, but since this is my first v-twin, I'm still learning what is normal. I have roughly 8k miles on it. I have checked the battery terminals thinking that a loose connection could lead to a weak start, but they're nice and snug.
