Default Vegas 8 Ball Issue

I've got a few issues that i believe are electrical going on with my 06 8 ball (25,000 miles). One issue is the speedometer quits working intermittently. I'll be riding down the highway at 70 and it'll go to 0 and stay there for miles. The odometer continues displaying miles but not count them. The second issue is, it'll sputter, like it misses a revolution when I'm sitting at an idle in traffic. I had the bike completely cut out once and not want to restart until I pushed it to the side of the road and cranked it for about 30 seconds. The changes I've made are as follows:

I installed a 12v fused outlet so i can charge my cellphone while on long rides. I connected it directly to the positive (w/ inline fuse) and negative terminals of the battery.

I also replaced the ignition because it was corroded and causing my bike to cut out intermittently. The ignition was relocated, so the wires were spliced, extended (soldered) and shink wrapped. I tested them with a volt meter for continuity and I don't believe this is the cause of my problem.

I installed new spark plugs and cleaned the injectors and butterflies at the beginning of this riding season. I've had this issue after filling up (highest octane avail) more than once from different stations. I also disconnected the outlet thinking that may be the cause of the issue. It sounds like a grounding / electrical issue. Any ideas and input is greatly appreciated.

It may be a electrical connector issue, like a rusty or not fully seated connector. I had a similar issue with my speedo where it would jump around for a while then read zero. I brought my bike in to be serviced for something unrelated and when I got it back I never saw the problem again. I suspect when they were modifying the wiring that they reseated a connector that wasn't fully seated.

You may want to try DeoxIT also. My older brother is an auto electrician and he seems to love the stuff.

I sometimes have the same issue with my speedo. I also have a 06 Vegas 8 Ball. I had my speedo replaced at a local dealership, I believe mine has something to do with the substandard work they did, considering the majority of them are not smarter than the average rock ape. As far as the second issue, the thing closest to that that I've experienced is the bike stalling while I'm gliding to a stop when the clutch depressed. I think it's got something to do with my tune, which I'm in the process of fixing.

I concur that it's most likely a wiring issue, as something doesn't have 100% connectivity, or somethings loose.

Speedo issue is fairly common, and it is from a loose pin in the sensor itself. Often just blowing out both sides with low pressure air, and then adding di-electric grease; will fix it up.
Not sure about the one time stall though

Oh yea sensor is on top of case behind rear cyl

I'm not an asshole...I just type that way
