Default Jacking techniques?

I am wondering what tools/techniques folks use when home servicing their rides. My old GoldWing has a center stand which makes things easier - I just use that and a small floor jack with a piece of 2x6 under the engine when I work on it, couple of small tree stumps for safety, stabilization. I haven't had the necessity to service this V92C, but that day will come, so what do you all use, is a motorcycle jack necessary?

I bought one of these a long time ago, to use on my Gold Wing.

Worked for everything EXCEPT oil changes. The drain plus was directly over one of the supports.

It will hoist my Cross Roads just fine.

Just remember that you need to have a Victory on the side stand to fully drain the motor oil. For everything else, it works great. Make sure that you use tie-downs when working on the bike to prevent the bike from tipping off of the lift.

My suggestion is to loosen all nuts and bolts before lifting the bike off the ground.
Plan out what your going to do and you should be fine
