Default arlen ness airbox/filter and intake

Im getting ready to install a arlen ness airfilter/intake on to my 08 kingpin this week. I haven't torn the bike down yet but I know I will be taking of the seat and tank. Will I have to fully commit and completely take out the stock airbox or does it just drop in? Wiil I have to relocate any sensors etc?? I'm thinking the whole thing will have to be gutted. Let me know what I'm in for.

your most definately going to have to commit. If you have not searched on removing a stock airbox, might be worth while for any pointers on the KP. You ever play the game OPERATON?? I have an 04 TC so me personnaly, I found that a dremmel tool with a sheetrock drill bit worked the best for cutting the box out. (Unless you kingpin owners have some special way to slip it out ) Slow and sure is the way to go and you wont even nick the frame..

Pop off the access cover to the TB's, ensure you have something like a nice clean rag in the TB throat to help keep the chips out, any and all wiring pulled away from the airbox and commence dicection. I worked from the TB's forward. Take your time with the dremmel and let it do the work. Ear plugs, eye protection and shop vac a must.. The only thing I can think that I would have done differnt is have my neighbor there with the vac as I was cutting it out to reduce the mess from the chips.

Sensors? Looking at your parts breakdown I don't see where they are but should be pretty cut and dry on swapping them out in addition to the crankcase vent.

Get ready for a noticiable improvement in performance and sound! I swear you can hear it gulping air like a thirsty football player at halftime... hehe Keep us posted and throw up a followup... May need a couple shots of some JB or something to calm your nerves before you start cutting that box... out... lol

Gulping like a thirsty footbal player eh? I can't wait! Hey, in your experience, how is this going to effect things if i get caught in the rain. Normally im pretty cautious and try to keep her dry but mother nature can be a bitch sometimes. it seems that this thing will be pretty much fully exposed. Any thoughts? I will keep you posted on progress. Waiting on my PCV from Lloys to come in this week so I can do it all in one shot. They are going to pre-map it for me as they know what I am doing.

I have a K&N wide mouth which lays just over the front can and have ridden in some rain on the highway with no issues to mention. One bout was for about 45 minutes straight heavy enough to cause several electrical annomolies to occur but nothing concerning the engine or as if I was ingesting a ton of water. Rain the lighted back up to normal rain and still no issues running wise.

Well, I got the seat off and the tank removed with no issues. I then went to cutting out the airbox and it was simple. No issues there. However, whomever told the designers at Victory to use allen wrench bolts on the underside of the throttle bodies was an asshole. What a pain in the ass to get through. it took forever, but I got the new big gulp installed and it fits great. i do however see a change in my future. When it comes time to clean the filter and and basically gon through the same process, it getting standard bolts back in it for better ease. Now just to wait for my new fuel controller in from lloyds and try this baby out! IM SO STOKED!!!
