Victory Owners' Manual says:
Operating the engine with too much or too little oil can cause serious engine damage or seizure, which could result in loss of control and serious injury or death. Do not operate the motorcycle with the oil level above the FULL mark or below the ADD mark.

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

A 1/2 quart low is better then a 1/2 quart over full
If your over do like others have done get a turky baster and suck some out.
Yes you check your oil with the bike sitting straight up an down.
