Default Windows 10/Android and Power Commander PSA

Just a heads up I tested and found that the power commander software will not connect to a power commander 5 when you are running windows 10.

So if you are thinking of doing the update to windows 10 but need access to the PCV hold off.

Now a caveat to this is that I was using a virtual machine on my mac to run windows so YMMV. This set up did work on windows 7 though.

Also cool new note there is an android app available so you can connect to your PCV using that and swap maps or adjust fuel trims. Just need an On-The-Go such as this:

to make it work. Then you cna try changing things as you go. I believe it works with auto tune as well to adjust setting from that.

Thanks for the heads up!

Is there a way to run Windows 10 in a "compatibility mode" like previous versions?

Looks like it does.

I will have to try it. The error i get is a "can not create directory" on boot.

I'll try later and report back.

Thanks for the heads up. I am still running Windows 7 but would hate to lose function by "upgrading".

Have you contacted them at Power Commander to see if they have a software compatibility update in the works? It is a very new OS....
BTW, thanks for the heads-up since I too am running W7 on my Mac.

Error is the same when running compatibility mode.

No haven't contacted them because I assume they are working on it. Considering they still refuse to support mac I don't expect them to move fast.

That error is pretty generic. Can you check the application logs for errors that occur at the same time as when you are trying to connect. Also check the Mac for any errors in it's logs at that time. Did you have any issues connecting from a Win 7/8.x VM? Before investing too much time into this you might consider going by a pawn shop and picking up a cheap Windows laptop just for tuning. I've seen some decent laptops for $50-$100.

Also do you know what directory it's trying to create? It might be possible to map a drive from the Mac to the VM that Win will treat like a local drive for the Power Commander software.

I've spent maybe 45 minutes on it for fun. I sent the map I needed using the android tablet so no need to buy something else.

Yes it worked in a VM of 7. Doesn't say what directory and I am really not looking. Was just sharing with others that it is a potential issue. Also the error appears with or without a USB device connected it's an issue with the software not the drivers.

Have you tried opening it using IE 11? It's included in the Win 10 download.
