Hi Everyone,
So I have a 2003 Vegas and my speedometer stop working and engine light come's on once I start to travel. I checked my speed sensor cable and noticed that the wire was melted/frayed. The original part is #4010766, which if I found out was replaced with part # 4011111. So I found one on Ebay (#4011111) and installed it. Still no luck. Do you think I bought a bad cable or is it sometime else? How can I check to see if the cable I have is good?
I have the back light and my RPM's work fine!
Thanks In Advance..

While you are troubleshooting that I would be actively searching for the original part off a salvaged bike. Even if the bike is a long ways away they can always remove it and ship it to you, while still being cheaper than new. Or, plan B, I had this happen on a previous bike... The cheaper option for me was to get a phone mount and I would just open the map/navigation app and it would give me a speed readout. Good luck, hope this helps in some way.
