Default Draining the battery

I have had a issue with what I believe is the radio on my 2013 X-Country. I ride with music and have an I-Pod hooked up. I rode one day last month and not knowing when the next nice day would show up I shut off the I-Pod(which I never do in the summer) 3 days later I went to ride to work and the battery was completely drained. After I charged the battery and started the bike the radio would not recognize the I-Pod but is charging it. And still the battery is not draining(I have not left the I-Pod on or plugged in). Suggestions?

Are you talking about the iPod battery or the bike battery?

Odd. I have left my iPod in the bike and it hasn't drained the battery. Is it original? Do you have any aftermarket USB ports installed? They will drain a battery even if nothing is plugged in. How's the starting performance - does it still turn over strong? I'm wondering if the battery is on its way out...

Are the battery terminals tight? They do tend to loosen. How old is the battery? What does the voltage read at when the bike is sitting?

It starts great now. I have a lithium battery I put in last summer. This only happened once, the only time I turned off the I-Pod while still plugged in. Now the radio will not even recognize the I-Pod and I get the green battery sign showing charging.

I thought I read where the Vic's didn't like lithium batteries by someone here. Don't know, I don't have first-hand experience...

I was seriously considering a Lithium battery, but after doing my due diligence and reading up on other that the mfr's hype, I learned there are a lot of things not to like about them. Such as; If your engine doesn't start on the first try, there may not be a second try left in the battery. There are more negatives, but that one was too much for me.
