Default Barnett Clutch Cable

Went to put the new Barnett clutch cable on my 03, V92c Classic Cruiser oday. Ran into a snag. The OEM cable had a ball on the end that fit into a cylinder, that slid into the hand lever. The Barnett has a small cylinder with a thick stem covering the cable. Drilled out the OEM piece to accomodate the thick stem. Now the cable end sticks out past flush and will not fit. Tried drilling OEM adapter and got the stem to fit, but it sticks out too far and won't fit in the lever. Did I get the wrong end on the cable or was something left out of the Barnett package?

A while back when replacing with a Barnett I went to use the OEM cylinder and the Barnett wouldn't fit. Went back and searched in the Barnett bag and found the new cylinder piece in a tiny separate bag. I had missed it when pulling the new clutch cable out. Everything fit up just fine when I used that new piece. There was also some factory cable lube in the same little bag. I hope you figure out what is not right in your new setup!

No little bag. That was first thing I checked. Just a ketchup sized packet of grease.......

I put a Barnett clutch cable on my '02 V92TC this winter. The cable barrel was smaller but there was a plastic sleeve (among the small loose parts in the bag) that slid over the barrel and made it back to the original diameter. The plastic prevents the metal to metal rubbing that the OEM system has. It operates smoother and should not need grease as often. The thick stem prevents the cable itself from rubbing against the side of the groove in the lever. That was one of the primary failure modes of the OEM cable.

Have you called Barnett? Hopefully they would send you that sleeve.
