Default iac with check engine light

I have a 2012 Highball. It has 3600 miles on it. 2000 miles ago I uncorked the exhaust , left the stock air filter on and had no issues. I went on a road trip and was getting check engine light at idle only and slight stumble off initial acceleration...On our trip we stopped at a local vic. dealer to do a scan and it came the tech came up with IAC malfunction.I didnt get the exact code # from him......wanted to ensure it was nothing major such as oil pressure or something that would trash the engine..didnt get the specific code..I have been an auto tech for 20yrs.. did some research and found out that the iac on our bikes works opposite than on a standard car.....its shut at idle and opens while acceleration. I see several bikes running zoomies and open exhaust and was wondering what the fix would be. I did the IAC reset test rode it today and check engine would come on at idle still. If I have to put the stock exhaust back on im going to buy a pink riding outfit and turn into a fullblown fag......Emailed LLoyds about his IAC adjuster part he sells and he seems to think I need to look deeper and it could be a band aid fix at this point.........I know I'm gunna get some posts about..... ....you loose power when u do this to the exhaust...but every Vic. i have raced I have taken by at least 4 to 5 bike lengths......When i want to go fast I get on my Busa.......anyway any suggestions would be appreciated..thanks, Chris

does it idle ok?
might be worth checking IAC tube is ok (the larger middle tube) mine was blocked and wasnt getting enough air to idle

just figured it out.... pulled off the IAC the 2 rubber hoses closest to the cylinders showed heat fatigue and the rear one had a 1" long hole in it....i monitor my bike oil temp via a gauge and runs really nice between 190 deg.. to 220 max..I know the temp gauges are not completely accurate but its a tool to monitor for major overheating...I am going to split it go get a line at autozone then put some form of heat barrier around them...should be fixed in a couple hours....Glad I didnt follow the shop manual and pull the tank off as they suugest in step 1...thing unbolts with 4 hexnheads and slides right out..
