Default quarter turn throttle, can't get any play?

got the lloydz quarter turn installed but can't get the 1/8" play the manual suggests, is it just that way? i worked on the lower cables and upper adjusters, throttle returns fine. have not started bike since its winter + i do not ride, so i am concerned of a high idle, anyone have this issue? manual shows the "do not adjust" for idle screw was this necessary for anyone? thanks for all replies as always.

If you screw the cables all the way in at both ends you should have plenty of slack. Make sure the cables aren't routed funny too.

Did you make any adjustments at the throttle body? There isn't enough adjustment at the bars alone to allow enough slack to make the correct adjustment....

Default i will try again!

i totally loosened lower cable at throttle body for installation then putting it back after lifting the tank i backed it off buy quit when i lost throttle return, i was told and it worked to adj the pull cable for more throttle return. i may be over concerned trying to keep lower cable adj centered as the manual suggests. that does not include the non stock quarter turn modification. going down now as its still warm from firing the stove all day, its 14 now + 0 or less is expected tonight. thanks for all input

The centering that the manual speaks of is for a stock throttle position. Now that you have put the 1/4 turn throttle ring in it throws all that out the window. Your gonna have to mess with both adjustments to get your throttle adjustments back.

I hear ya man, just to mention I like to keep both top and bottom adjustments at the throttle bodies fairly close to the same and then make the final adjustments on the bars. When your all said and done with the bike at idle turn the bars lock to lock listening for any changes in rpm. If you have a power commander you will want to reset the Throttle position in the software as well....

This is the second time I've seen this mentioned now and I still don't understand why it's suggested. I'm pretty sure the PC gets its throttle position from the TPS. Since installation of the 1/4 turn ring requires neither the throttle reel nor the TPS to be messed with, why would the PC be affected? All we are doing when installing the ring is adjusting the cables to compensate for the larger effective diameter of the throttle grip, the limits of the throttle reel are not changed at all. The bike should just think that we are twisting the throttle more quickly, not further. Please explain so I can wrap my head around this…

(And for the record, no adjustments were made to my PC after installing the ring…)
