Default 40 amp breaker

Before I tear into my bike I have to ask a stupid question.

Where is this little 40 amp breaker? The stupid part is : what I thought was the breaker to the left of the battery is in fact a flasher? Well it got corroded and water was in it so I cleaned it and used dielectric grease thinking that was the breaker. It must have caused the problem with my electrical system one night as my bike sputtered and stalled leaving me stuck on the road. 15 minutes later the breaker must have reset and I was on my way. So again getting info here led me to the part that I found out to be a flasher.

My part replacement from Napa $4 is a dual post with 2 nuts. It is a replica of the Victory 40 amp breaker I found on the parts micro fish from Honda East Toledo. So where would it be located on the bike? Micro fish doesn't show that. I just want to be sure So if I am stuck on the side of the road and need to perform roadside maintenance on this part I want to be ready with the tools I need.

Cross bikes its on the left side under the metal fairing. Can't miss it. Covered by a soft red plastic cover thing. Follow the positive from the battery right to it. It will have two leads on one post and one lead on the other.

I used a aftermarket breaker in mine. No change with my random stall. So it wasn't my problem..... still havent figured out what is.......

Thanks MrT. I'm in it now. The relay I reffered to is in that location also and according to Kyle it was my problem. Ignition module or relay got wet. Like I said earlier it's cleaned up and no more problems. your problem was not the breaker I'm sure.

I Just got off the phone with Kyle KMC. He is on the road to Daytona and asked me to stop by for some side of the road pointers. great guy and will answer any questions if you have them. Give him a try.
401 952 7972. At least he can tell you what to look for and possibly how to correct it.

On Cross bikes, can you get to it by only removing the grille in front of the battery, or do you have to remove the side panel too?

You can get to it that way but its a pain. Kyle says to remove the left metal cover of the shroud. Even more tedious if you have forged bars, JTD lowers and PIAA driving lights down there. The ignition relay is on the rt side. Left if your sitting in front of the bike. This relay was my problem and is a culprit when wet from rain or just washing the bike. Be sure to check it if you never have and you mite be surprised when you pull it apart.

I am considering a way to move this hard to get to problematic breaker to a more user friendly area. When I see Kyle this weekend he will give me some advise on this to pass along. Thanks for the help.

Slick, you said ignition relay. That's what is under the soft red cover? Many have been saying circuit breaker. Now I'm corn-fused.

If it was, I'd be riding. I think it's in the wiring to the PCV loosing power temporarily. I'm going to hard wire mine for testing. Pcs are universally wired basically. The red wire in the harness going to the PC is the hot. Test, test, test..... .lets see what happens

Sorry RICZ, Till today I was confused. OK sitting in front of the battery on the floor. Looking at the battery. On the left side is a plugin type relay. On the right side of the battery (clutch side of bike) is the 40 amp breaker. Riveted into the side of the battery tray. It has a red rectangular rubber cover over it . If you watch the video the CR posted it shows the location on a Hardball which look like the shroud is removed for easy access to it. What a shit place for a problematic part. Especially on my bike.

Thanks for that reply Slick--no apology needed, I'm in no hurry as I'm not having a problem with the circuit breaker, but after reading this thread, I am going to replace it with an aftermarket one.
Without removing mine and taking it to a parts store, is there a verbal description I can give the counterman so I come away with a correct replacement?
