Default shift rod issue

so, i bought the ness shift rod, thought it was a simple swap out on my '11 cross country. ran into issues. the ends of the rod are to big. that being said, i wemt to pot stock rod back on, now my pedal height is way to high which i can figure out toi adjust. but the shift pedal, when i down shift goes all the way forward. there is no stop on it any more. i can step on it it and the pedal will go all the way down past the front of the floor board.

is there supposed to be a stop on it? i thought this was a simple bolt on and it has turned into a nightmare.

help! what am i missing?

There are dimples on the shifter shaft and the adapter for the shift rod and you'll need to make sure the dimples are lined up. If you need to raise / lower the shifter you can do so by rotating the shift rod.

ok.. i figured it out.. i was mounting the front part of rod on the middle hole of shift pedal on the outside. it needed to be mounted on the bottom hole on inside of the shift pedal.. stupid mistake on my part.

this all started because i bought a Arlen Ness deep cut shift rod. I have tried every which way to get it to mount via the poor instructions. there is no way this rod fits. the heads on it are to big and the hardware to bolt it in place is making contact w/ hoses that run along the underside of the motor.

i ended up putting the stock rod back on and all is back to normal.

what a PIA
