Default dobeck AFR+ gen IV

called dobeck + talked to dillon, ordered the generation IV fuel controller with A/F gauge + handlebar mount $15 xtra. got a nice military discount after conformation. about 10 days he said. i will never do cams + with its adjustability + gauge to verify what my A/F ratio is this is suited to me. my 13 hammer "seems" to be running well as is with a ness filter, lloydz timing wheel + drill modified cobra tri-flo with dealer download. the gauge with its wideband will tell me the truth!

That's a good value at list price.

Nice to have the adjustment up where you can do it in real time, and have the gauge too. Wonder what the implications are for trying to put the wideband into a older non-O2 exhaust system. Better to do the averaging with a 2 into 1 exhaust system I guess, than run monitoring and adjusting to one?

You will like the ease of adjustment on the AFR + and the comfort of knowing what your AFR is at all times.

for more info + a demo of how it works just search dobeck fuel controllers. without a gauge you really do not know "whats up" running on the road. on the TriumphRat forum a member posted how he had a good running map, which can be downloaded with TUNE ECU on most models, he was surprised after he installed the innovate wide band gauge just what his A/F ratios on the road were. i was gonna get that setup but for a little more i can see + adjust the A/F ratio

How so?

How straight-forward is the tuning with it.. Looks like it gives you the ability to tune on the fly literally on side of the road even instantly.

If I weren't getting a dyno-tuned PCV, I'd consider it, if the gauge could be mounted in such a way I could stand to look at it on the Hard-Ball.

Well it can add and Subtract fuel. It can go "closed loop" and hold an AFR setting of your choosing. You can actually see the unit working. Yes you can adjust it with out ever getting off the bike. It has a diagnostic mode, so you can see how thing are before you ever make any adjustments.

If you can tune a vcf 3 or any of the other dobeck units- you can run this thing.

The gauge is a drawback, having to put it somewhere. I mounted mine on the left side of the bar. Think I might make a mount to put it center above and between the speedo and tach... I hate how off balanced it looks right now... But it is right there on my finger tips to adjust as needed for the time being.

I am hoping that after I have dialed in....the Gage would be removable.

I just called - the gauge is not removable.

I asked about the waterproofing as well- the standard gauge should be fine on a bike in a rainstorm. Upgraded waterproofing is available if you are 4 wheelin' in the mud and submerging the unit.

I have about 30 miles on it, learning how to use it. I will say that adjusting the idle to an afr reading. and a tweek or to aon the IAV and the bike starts better and idles better.

Got some miles and tuning time in today with this gen 4 tuner. It has made tuning my bike in a piece of cake. really woke it up. Pulled the front wheel up a little bit in 3rd gear- never did that with a vcf3.

I recommend this. Bike now starts a little bit quicker, Idles better, and pulls like Stream Train.

For the record I have stage one map, Shotgun pipes with QQ baffles from Big City Thunder, Timing wheel at +4 and Loydzz idle air valve.

Default dobeck gen IV installed - settings

not to bad to install, plugs can be fiddly, one pops right in another resists, being plastic care + patience is a must. picked up a black handlebar mount for the gauge on my 13 hammer. i have yet to ride as its been raining, looking like rain + raining more. this week for sure. i have a ness filter aka S+S 4 degrees in timing wheel + factory stage I tripro from former owner, although i opened the pipes more for a decent rumble without getting too loud. wondering what settings others are using with similar upgrades. i will start with dobecks suggestions but am investigating what others are using
