Default rear caliper removal question

Ok so I took this week off for some riding and I figured I'd clean her first.Thats when I found a rubber boot or cover was missing on the caliper and the caliper bounces around without it.Go to MoMs to get one have to order it and I have to get the whole seal kit 27 bucks(wont be in till end of week to boot). Before I leave I figured Id ask if the caliper can come off without removing the rear wheel.Service guy takes me to look at a KP in the wherehouse to look at what Im asking about and says I dont need to remove wheel.I figure good. I come home change the oil and start looking at the caliper and I cannot find away to remove it without taking wheel off. Check service manual and it says to remove wheel. If there is away Id be very gratefull for any assistance. If I have to drop it off Im boned probably a week or 2.I dont have the tools to remove the wheel and limited know how which I hope to change.Sorry for the long winded post.

I have only had mine off once, but it looked to me as if you had to remove the rear wheel to get the caliper off.

The manual says you have to remove the rear wheel...sorry.

Removing the rear wheel is not that big of a job...

Biggest thing is if you can have another person help put the wheel back on. Its a pain to do alone. Especially getting the caliper lined back up right so the wheel lines up with the axel holes. As for the shock I usually let the bike down to apply some weight and that helps line the holes up for me.

All you have to do is take the top slide pin out of the caliper. Then the caliper will just slide off the bottom slide pin.
