Default Battery/warrenty advise

So I picked up a 2010 left over jackpot in sept. 0 miles. when I picked it up they did the full inspection But never started it. dead battery! they brought out a jumper pack and gave me a free battery tender for my troubles. flash forward to the other day. 2500 miles later bikes running great. next day I put the key in and nothing! not even an odometer reading. THe battery tender just flashes not charging. switched to a regular charger with no luck. I got the 5year extended warrenty but cant locate my paperwork to see whats covered. I spoke with the sales manager and he said that he could get me a discount on a new battery. should this be covered?

Batteries are covered by the battery manufacturer's warranty, not by the bike's warranty as it is a consumable (like tires, light bulbs, etc).

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Battery says Polaris printed on it. Looks like I need to look into buying a new one.

Keninc
Go to your "salesmen" with battery in hand and wine how much you paid for the bike. Tell him straight up that you should get four years out of the battery. Make him feel bad.
The more you wine the quicker he will go get you a new one.
Its a shame if you don't get a new battery and yes make sure its a new one and not one they pulled out of some other bike.

Please add your state and model of bike you have. Click user CP @ top of page and then far left click edit signature. Thanks

Then Polaris will have a warranty in place for the battery. It's independent of your bike's warranty. Contact your local dealer and they should be able to point you in the right direction, as visionjohnny suggested.

Default The stages of warranty....

Buying a leftover 08, that was my first question. Dealer/Owner reassured me that at this point, it was certainly not the original battery (He got bike from Victory from a closed dealer's stock). Then, he tested it and handed me the printout (fine). Then, he told me that it would be covered under my year's warranty, and after that it would be a "consumable" despite my added year's warranty.

I'd say you are due a battery if still within your year's original warranty, especially given the fact that you have been maintaining it with their freebee charger!

Oh and BTW, That they claimed to do a "check" but never started it is complete BS. Didn't you sign the big 11x17 "Certificate of Pre-Delivery" check list for delivery prep, that includes a ROAD TEST section (your copy is pink, factory is yellow and dealer is white)? Because I was buying an unfamiliar bike, I instructed them to test ride it, and I was reassured that they would do that in any event. Absent that, you've got the dealer by the short ones with Victory policy.

Roll on,
Ray

You should get a copy of your warranty (5-year) in the mail. I bought my XR in the later part of Oct. and I just got mine like two weeks ago in the mail.
