Default Quarter Throttle Install Issues

I have a 2007 Vegas Premium. I installed the S&S airbox and VCF-III yesterday with no issues.

Today my Lloyd's Quarter turn came in. I took off the tank and installed the quarter turn with no issues at first. Then I tried to close the housing, but I can't since there is a .5 inch gap at the bottom.

I have tried everything and I can't get the housing closed. I have the HR2 throttle ring. Can someone help?

Attached is the pic of my problem as well as the grips. What kind of grips are these (I just bought the bike)?

Thanks

If you pull every thing off the bars can you get the housing closed.
Try it off bar with grip in place and see.

On the vision models housing has to be in a certain spot or it will not close

I put the bike back together so I can go for a ride. I will try again here soon with the install. I will see if the housing units closes when not on the bars and let you know.

Thank you

I went out and tried it all again...this time just off the bars. I still couldn't get the housing closed. I could get it within 1/4 inch of being closed and then found that the handle wouldn't turn at all.

I have no idea what the issue is. I tried it many ways but still no success. Crazy that installing the VCF-III and S&S was "easier" than installing this quarter-turn.

I pulled out the dremel and grinded as much out as I could from the housing...still won't fit. Now the handle has a ton of play because of the housing being so much bigger than the throttle handle. What a day.

I think I'd have called WD (or who ever you ordered from) for a fitment check before I did all that. There are 2 sizes and they don't claim to work with every grip. They say you may need to do some shaving, but not major reconstruction.

Looks and sounds like you got the wrong ring. If you already contacted them, my apology.

I called them and they said I have the correct piece for having stock grips. I just bought the bike and I don't know the exact grips I have. I attached a pic above with the grips.

I got on another forum and another guy with an 07' Vegas Premium had the same issue. The chrome housing is very tight.

I spent an hour today cutting a PVC pipe the same size of the 1/4 turn piece...but having half the thickness. I finally got the housing closed but was so cramp that the handle won't turn. I give up.

I have a 1/4 turn HR2 for sale if anyone wants one.

Will that mean I need the HR1? Does anyone know the thickness of the HR1 compared to the HR2?

HR1 is for stock and HR2 is for aftermarket grips

What grips do you have,

the 1/4 ring should fit tight on your grip and

I miked the OD of the HR1 and it was 1.73 so that like 13/4"
