Default D&D and S&S ????

Need some help. I have 2008 Vegas Low closed loop fuel system.
Want some more exhaust sound and some performance gains. I will not be doing any internal motor work. Do not want to add fuel controller.

I sugessted D&D slip ons and S&S intake with S&S map.

First dealer said I should go Victory stage one all the way. He says it will give me better low and mid range power?

Second dealer says I won't get much of a gain for $1000 with the stage one. He says that D&D and S&S is the way to go. Also if I go D&D should I go with stage one download or get the S&S with map.
Possibly Vic 2 into 1 but not mt first choice.
Anyone running D&D and S&S? What do you think.
Goal good sounding good running bike. Thanks for your help.

The D&D's will need a map - use a Vic map with the stock intake. If you go with a S&S intake, use their map.

Either setup would be a good option: D&D+Vic map or D&D+intake+S&S map. The S&S intake will take some low-end power and give it back twofold up top. Your choice on how you want the bike to perform.

Default Thanks

Vicbuilder thanks for your input. I was curious about the map because D&D says you don't need a map if you only change the exhaust. I guess both dealers had their points. With the S&S you say I will lose some low end power but gain it two fold up top. At what point would the S&S map tend to kick in? Thanks again for your help I really appreciate it.

A map doesn't "kick in", it's a preset tune that adjusts the fuel so your bike doesn't run lean (or rich). That's why there are so many maps, because there are so many different combinations of pipes/airboxes. Use a Vic map with a Vic intake, S&S map with a S&S intake. Not all maps are perfect for all combinations so some folks go with a fuel controller.

But don't over-complicate it - there are thousands of posts on maps/combinations. You were right, both dealers were correct, just two different schools of thought. Now you have to decide how you want the bike set up.

After rereading your post: Do you mean when does the S&S INTAKE kick in? About 3000 rpm. You may loose a bit of power under 3K then get it back two or three fold at 5500rpm.
Depends on how you like to ride. I've had some people complain that they don't like the loss and wish they'd never replaced their intake, then there are twice as many that love the extra power up top.

Thumbs up

Vicbuilder that is exactly what I meant. Thanks for taking the time to help me understand. YOU are right, I just have to choose how I want the bike to perform. Leaning towards S&S also because of the
look. Thanks once again.
