Default LO OIL light on after oil change

I recently purchased my 2013 Victory Vegas from a private seller last Saturday. When I test drive the bike before deciding to buy it there wasn't a light that came on. The day I got it from the seller at my bank, the lo oil light was on. He told me that it hasn't dried a leak of oil. So I decided to change the oil and star with a clean slate. I followed the directions in the owners manual on filling it up and then checking it in a vertical position. The oil level is showing in the range between add 1 quart and full. The lo oil light is still on. Any suggestions on what I could check that could be keeping this on?

Thanks

That's a low oil pressure light.
Mine did that and it was a bad filter ...
I replaced the filter and no more problems.

But first add more oil and see if the light goes out.
The oil pressure sensor is I believe on the left side rear of the motor. Check the wires...

You do have the bike running when the light is on ?

It comes on when I turn the ignition to on and then again when I cut the engine off. Each time had been with the bike in a vertical position and not on its side stand. I didn't notice it when it was running.

I'll add a little bit more oil in the morning to see if that changes it. The kids are in bed and don't think they'd take to kindly to having the Vegas turned on in the garage or shall I say the wife wouldn't take to kindly to it. Haha

It should be on when the key is on and the motor not running.
As I said its a pressure light. Not a low oil light.

When the motor is running there is oil pressure and the light will go off.
If you turn the motor off the light will turn on.

Most Japanese bikes have a low oil level light.
Victory has a better oil indicator. Like a car it is a oil pressure warning system.

Just because I can't help myself......
For those that want to know..

Your Victory 106 has a dual oil pump. 2 pumps in 1 pkg
1 pump lubes the motor and cams ect with a max pressure of 85 psi
The other pump lubes the tanny gears and runs oil through the oil cooler at a max pressure of 105 psi

Impressive lubrication system....

That would be normal. The light indicates low pressure. DON"T overfill it will puke oil out of the crank case vent, or worse foam and foul the pistons.
Go to the Vic internet page and download an owners manuel if you don't have one with the bike. Read it. You'll find all sorts of quirky things these bikes do, and don't do. Very different from some other brands.

Congrats on the bike.

You'll find the OM pretty good reading and it will answer a lot of questions. I usually don't refer folks to it, but in this case it sounds like the trouble lights are getting in your head. It will explain a lot. It might could be put together a bit better, along with most of them, but it is actually user friendly.

Enjoy the bike and if you still have questions, answered or not in the book, look here. Lots of good folks and knowledge.

I agree with the guys here , as long as "LO Oil" isn't on while motoring down the parkway , you are good to go ! Enjoy the bike .
