Default I smell a fuel leak

After riding home this morning I smelt fuel when I put it in the garage. After a weekend of issues with the tailights and my car, I didnt need this not at 5 am. I pulled the seat and looked for the wet spot and all the lines look dry etc. Then I noticed the top of my Filter? was wet. Round thing on the right side of the bike, im assuming the round thing on the left is the pump? Im hoping its just the rubber line, I just spent 400 bucks on this thing over the weekend i dont want to spend anymore. Would a plugged filter cause this maybe, just throwing stuff out there, I need to go to bed so I can sleep some. Still gotta finish the car, more so now if the bike has decided to not want to be ridden LOL. She looks great though, i need to post some updated pics.

Being an older bike; a cracked fuel line or maybe just a vent line is possible. Probably a simple thing but will likely need to pull the tank to find it. I'm not that privy to the early Vic's. You can get a Parts Manual for it HERE.

I know there was a recall for the fuel system. But take a look at the return line could have a cracked o-ring in one of the fitting letting it seep a bit

Did you fill the tank, if so it could be coming from the vent hose if you didn't fill the tank. Start with the simple tighten the hose clamps if that don't do it replace filter and hoses and clamps. I had a leak once and it was a simple tightening of the clamps fixed it. Once I filled the tank drove 2 miles to work and when I came out I had a fuel leak. It turns out I over filled the tank and parking in the sun the gas expanded and came out of the over flow. It shouldn't be an expensive fix.

I think I found it, yesterday I ran it and didnt see anything. I went to leave for work made it a block, heard the fuel pump whine and she stalled. Before I left I noticed the Fuel line T fitting had come loose, the plastic fitting looks like it is missing some plastic and the metal lock tab doesn't hole the T in tight and it looses prime. I have it zip tied tight right now but I will need to find a new piece. It must have popped loose and fuel ran down the line the other day collecting on the fuel filter.

I did a search for that part number on the Don Wood Victory site and it didn't turn up anything. There may be a new number that supersedes the old number. Your dealer should be able to check for you with a simple phone call.

Be prepared for a major price shock; it'll likely be over $90 for both pieces.

Two things to keep in mind with the quick-disconnect -
- when disconnecting, always pull straight out; don't get it at an angle
- when reassembling it, don't rely on the stop for the metal latch - push the latch in all the way by hand when inserting the "T" section into the lower one, otherwise you may shave the o-ring, causing it to leak (BTDT!)

Mine must have been modified, it has a brass fitting with a push on hose and hose clamp. Easy enough to get to and how often do you remove the tank anyway.
