OD Pulley for V92 everything it is hiped up to be!
Well, I will say this. While I was NOT planning on adding the 32tooth OD pulley to my 04 TC over the weekend, I am sure glad it's on! What a sweet ride this TC is! I didnt think I could enjoy this bike any more until now. 1-4 is just where they should be, good roll outs on the RPM and Speed with 4th taking the on ramp and stabilizing into traffic then kick it up to 5th, 2700 rpms and sit back and enjoy the ride! 90% of my daily ride to/from work is 65/70mph with about 50+ on highway. Man that engine sounds sweet just chuggin on down the road!
1st get perfrect through the intersections now easily 20mph and into 2nd after the turn, etc. No struggle off the line. 2nd & 3rd, no more bouncing around on off ramps where traffic speeds up/slows down. If you get into 2nd, you stay there until the merger, if your good for 3rd, plenty of torque to get you back out quickly.
Want to get into it??? Yea, it's all still right there and when you hit 4th it is nice. Might not be quite as quick off the line but com'on... its a bagger... lol.. Once it's in the power band, I likeit more than before.
So, why did I pop this on over the weekend? Well, another thread was talking about tranny noise (which I didnt think I had any) and KevinX said to check for red dust at the front pulley which could indicate that the torque on the nut was broken. Also that there as a 10k (02 and older) retorque service interval. My 04 says 15k and I am almost due a back tire. Knowing that I was going to have to loosen the exhaust and already had identified a bad stud on the forward can, figured I would do the retorque when I replace the back tire in a couple thousand. Getting a little nervous about putting this off, I looked up in the pulley area, sure enough there was some red dust. Not good I think, I decid to not put this off and break it down on the upcoming weekend just in case I have problems (it was Wed when I looked), it should be fine thought. No noise right? Thurs morning coming home from work, I quickly found out, that was a bad call.
You can figure the rest of the story out from there. So, no bad damage, cost was for the pulley and some odds/ends (not over 375 total) and was able to modifiy the housing/cover in a couple hours with a dremmel she is back on the road. Lesson's learned, do your 10/15k clean, inspection, locktight and retorque on your pulley nut (a 1 7/8" 3/4 drive socket by the way, not sure about the metric side) and if your feeling froggy and want to play on the OD side, try that pulley. I have the guys email, PM me if you need it. Cost was 345 shipped.
Safe ridding! Tim
