Default V92 tc battery voltage

Just bought an 04 TC 2 months ago. Been having some issues starting bike. Will occasionally not turn when starter button pressed. Then will turn over after another press or two. Doesn't seem to turn very fast. Battery has a 12/14 sticker on it and previous did say battery was replaced. MFD shows 11.8 volts when battery mode selected. Is this normal? I thought I read somewhere to expect 12.5.

Thought I check with the resident experts here before I replaced battery. Total newb so any advice is appreciated.

11.8 is about 30% of battery life left 12.5 about 80%-90% Full charge is 12.7 or better. My battery is fairly new and settles at 13.1v. Fully charged my old battery would only charge to 12.4v. Dropping voltage below 12.0v repeatedly will shorten battery life.

Wow! Appreciate the super fast reply.

So if my MFD is showing 11.8 I may have a bad battery?

I would charge it first and monitor the voltage.

Put it on the Battery Tender for 1 hour and indication went "full green". However, MFD on bike still reads 11.8 volts?

Check your battery with a volt meter before hooking up the battery tender and write down the voltage. Leave the tender on for a day to make sure it gets a full charge. A battery tender is a trickle charger and brings the voltage up slowly. After a day (at least over 12 hours), disconnect the tender and check the voltage again with a volt meter and see where you are. It should read close to 13 volts for a good charge on a good battery.

What manufacturer makes your battery? I use a tender on both my bikes and all four of my ATV's religiously to keep them in peak condition.

Thanks Chuck. Took the battery down to the local battery place and they ran it through a bunch of test and it tested fine. Guess my issue isn't the battery. Just took the bike out and first press on the start button yielded a slight crank and then nothing. Press again and fired right up. I don't ride it a lot so I guess leaving it on the tender over night can't hurt.

pull the regulator plug and clean it

Vision, I really hate to be the uneducated newb, but where is the regulator plug? Is it one of the two connectors (2 pin and a 3 pin) that run up the front of the bike from the stator area?

Maybe with a question like that I'm already out of my depth!
