Default 3rd gear repair video!

hello everyone, i recently invested in my very own 2000 v92sc (i had a 99 with the plaque and fully loded it was number 1121 off the line if im not mistaken!) anyways on this 2000 the previous owner abused and beat the living piss out of it. he ended out laying it down so i bought it for $2000 and im glad he dosent own it any more. needless to say, the 3rd gear will not work, it only clicks when you try to put it in gear, and as for the body, he did a minimal amount of damage given.

anyways back to the topic, i just bought a brand spanking new gear shaft off of ebay for drum role please......... $40

i then proceeded to call my local victory shop who have been a great help, and they send me....... all 50 some pages from their manuel on how to repair it! along with other shorter things they had about the problem and set up!!! the part arives june 3rd est. and i have a motorcycle run planned for june 6th to ride through canada and i want to do it on my new victory, so if all goes well, i will have all of you garage DIY mechanics a simple video that shows you exactly what to do to fix that third gear we all hate!!!

my next post tonight will be about how i am doing a bobber conversion and allot more involving making it a bobber to hide the damages the previous owner inflicted on this beauty, plus its a freaking bobber and bobbers are sweet!

Subscribed ... I never seen a video of the repair in question but with the repair manual downloading from Bbob and your vicshop should be ok mate

Could you start by posting the pictures of your damage ?

And i remember some forum members posting pictures of their gear repair ..

Good luck

he overfilled the oil so it backed up into the intake ruining the filter, and flooding the air box, at one point it managed to get into the engine, and there was a black cloud behind me when i rode it home the first time.

body damage will be next

bad pictures, i will take more tomorow but anyways, the gas tank has a chunk of no paint and rust along with two small dents. the exhaust is full of scratches and took most of the damage, the foot peg was scratched on the underside and end, the front light bezel is ruines, the break fluid on the handle bar is scratched minorly, and the right side mirror is crooked from bending. he replaced the turn signals already. the plugs were gapped to the wrong size too!

Whouwwww that is bad .... All the forum members will have many good ideas, but take it slow so you end up with a great bike

Could you do a cylinder pressure test at one of the shops ??
New spark plugs after replaced filter ?

Cleaning the throttle body wouldn't be a bad idea ha ha ha

Keep on posting about your Repair's we can all learn fom this and help you fixing a great bike ....

i own my own small shop so of course i did a pressure test, never buy something unless you check it, the testers are like $15 at autozone, anyways it came out good. i did clean the entire airbox throttle body, and everything, i did a full tune up when i bought it so yea new spark plugs the old ones had a lot of carbon build up (glad it wasnt oil!!) oh yea, and it was leaking gas because the line had dry rotted, that was an easy fix though. oh yea and the batery had an impact bump on it so i replaced that right away before it gets too cold or hot and explodes on my leg, i live in ohio so crazy weather need to be carful.

Good damn deal.

Pick up a beater for a couple large and maybe throw another grand at it, and take off for parts unknown.

Now that there is motorcycling! If you make it to NY state you got a bed at Pop's house and an ear while you tell tales of your road.
