Default '04 V92TC check engine flashing

My check engine feature starts flashing after riding 35 - 40 miles.
If I pull over, and turn off the bike, then start it again, the same thing happens, go 35-40 miles and it starts flashing. So it's not overheating. I guess if it was, it would start flashing again as soon as I start it.
1) The bike is running great, no backfiring, missing, or any hint of a problem.
2) Battery cables and connections are clean and tight, no corrosion.
3) Spark plugs are gaped correctly, and a nice tan color.
4) Clean K&N air filter, and oil is full and clean.
If it didn't have the check engine feature, I'd never know there's a problem.
And to make this really fun, the Victory dealer in Sonoma Co.., Calif., has gone out of business. The closest dealer is down in Vallejo, about 60-70 miles away.
Any ideas? Will an OBD2 code reader work with my V92, or do they just fit cars?

There is a port that an obd2 scanner will plug into, but it won't give you a useable code. I had the check engine come up on my bike once and I hooked the scanner up to it and it gave me some bs code, I can't even remember what the code was, but it won't be useful to you. Does your battery have a good charge on it? You may want to go ahead and pull the tank anyway even though it's running find and look at the throttle body, if it's dirty go ahead and clean it. Also might disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it

First, thanks for your help.
I replaced the battery the end of last year, and have used a tender when we had a stretch of cold or bad weather. Here in Ca. I usually get to ride at least once a week, even in winter. All the connections are clean and tight, ( why do I start thinking about women when I say that? ) I even put a little blue loktight to keep them tight.
I bought the bike in 2012, with 10K on it. I cleaned the throttle bodies, after reading about that on here. The bike now has 20K on it.
I'm going to try disconnecting the negative, and check where it connects to the frame.
I did find something interesting in my service manual, on page 5.26, under 'sensor diagnostics. It covers what happens in the event of a sensor failure or a sensor reading outside the normal range and how a "pre- programed" value is substituted until the the sensor reading returns to the normal range.
The last sentence reads,"The rider may not notice a change in vehicle performance". That sounds like what I'm experiencing.
I'll get it figured out, and post what was wrong.

Cycle your read out to battery voltage, and keep an eye on it. I'll bet it climbs to 15+ volts, and it is coming on due to over charging. If so it is time for a regulator.

I finally tracked down one of the tech's that worked at my dearly departed Victory dealer, and he said it sounded like a "ghost code", which they came across sometimes on the 04-02 V92TC.
He said if it's running fine ignore it. Sometimes it will go away on it's own.And I found out that the nearest Victory dealer isn't 60-70 miles away, it's 121 miles.

One more comment. I've read on this forum where people were pissed because they didn't get a response or solution for their problem.
First off, I think these forums are great. There's a trove of information on here.
Second, what information you do get is free after all, and you are asking someone to trouble shoot your bike, who may very well be in another state.
And third, did I mention the help you do get is free?

Default A solution

It turns out to be a broken clutch sensor. Victory calls the part, Switch, safety, clutch. Sounds like the Navy stocks it.

When you release the clutch lever, if you look from underneath, you'll see it depresses a little bullet shaped button. When it's pushed in, it tells the bike the clutch is engaged, and won't let it start in gear unless you pull in the clutch lever. That's the safety part. I guess that's how it works. This darling little P.O.S. costs just under $60., and probably costs $1.50 to make. It doesn't even have Victory written on it.

My mechanic bypassed it, and no more check engine flashing. I always start in neutral anyway.
Hope this helps anybody with the same problem. I looked up, "2004 V92TC clutch sensor switch", and sites came up that said this is a common problem with the V92's.

I had to change mine also, and it comes with the harness attached. had to cut open the cable run to get to the connector.
