Default $1300 gas tank??

Ok, so shortly after I bought my '03, it died. Not battery died, the whole thing went kaput. I got it back home at tore it all apart (first time me or my old man had ever worked on a bike). I asked my dad to drain the gas out of the tank since I wasn't going to need it for awhile.

Well, after he did that, he set the tank down on the hood of one of the old cars (on a blanket), and the tank slid off and hit the floor 3' down. Put a big dent in the right front of it. He said he would buy me a new one, so I looked up the tank (had the realistic flame job), and the dealership wanted $1300 for a new one!! WTF!

I looked all over the place, but couldn't find one. Does anyone know where to get one for a decent price? I liked the design, and haven't seen anyone else with it, but I know it was a factory tank.

We ended up just having a friend fix and repaint the tank, but he couldn't put the flames back on it. I think it was like a big decal kinda thing that the factory put over the whole tank

Yeah that's what I was figuring on doing. And to this day, I'm still not sure what caused it, but when I pilled it apart the cam chain for the rear cylinder was wrapped around the crank. I had only had the bike 2 days when it died so I know it wasn't something I did. But I put new chain guides, chains, lower drive sprocket (that was a bitch to find), and replaced the bolts that had broke. Runs like a champ now. This is what it looked like when I took it apart:

Man that's a shame about the tank, but that's still a nice looking bike.
