Default Low Fuel Light Woes

New to me V92TC. Beautiful ride......except riding today, humming along with my buddy on his BMW. Low Fuel Light illuminates. I mention that I should think about looking for some fuel. No sooner do I get the words out, she's out of gas. Really? I was hoping for a little warning. Q: Is this typical for this bike? Can I make an adjustment to the sensor? Am I overlooking something?

I can't answer your question.

But my 2002 V92TC at max says the tank has 4.1gal in it, even though I've put 5gal in it when it was bone dry. My gauge will sit at 0.9gal and never dip below - I have to watch it closely because if I'm not paying attention it will run out of gas while sitting at 0.9gal. And it almost never blinks "low fuel". For me - I just keep it full and fill up whenever I stop so I don't have to worry. I've run out of gas on the highway once (that's how I discovered the issue) and no - it's not fun at all. I'll be watching the thread - hopefully someone knows...

I've had some issues with the low fuel coming on with a full tank, so I don't trust it at all. I just reset my trip odometer and refuel around 110-120 miles.

My light comes on at 0.9 gal and when full reads 3.9 gal. When I fill up it takes real close to 4 gallons of gas. I impress myself with my ability to cram 4 gallons into a 3 gallon space

Fortunately, my light comes on at 0.9 gal. I would conclude that the engineers didn't do a very good job at sensor selection and calibration. I always reset the trip odometer and fill up at 150 or fewer miles.

Well, thanks for the replies. Guess I'll just watch the odo, as this seems to be the most reliable method of calculating miles-to-empty. Oh, and for the record, the Owners Manual states, somewhat obtusely, though, that the indicator will read no more than 4.1 nor less than about 0.9 gallons in the tank.....NO MATTER HOW MUCH is in there. This explains the amounts of fuel that some members surprisingly add to their bikes on fill-up. Very poor engineering, if you ask me.
