Default 2001 V92C clutch adjustment

My clutch lever is a little jerky when releasing which makes for a rough start from stop. Can't seem to get that throttle to clutch lever balance because of the lever movement not being smooth. I have tried giving more slack on the cable which made it worse and even lubricated the cable but no significant improvement or change. Upon examination I think the problem is the clutch release mechanism at the end of the cable on the primary chaincase. Any ideas on how to change the tension on this mechanism. It seems I have to remove the cover t gain entry inside. Any suggestions?
