Default Fairing Question

Im wanting to put a fairing with a radio on my 2000 V92C. Ive seen the ones I can buy new and they arent cheap. I was thinking of buying a used a HD fairing and making it work. So what year and model of HD fairing have? What did you have to do to make it work? If you have pics please post them. Thanks everyone who answers.

What's the bottom line here price wise? How much is a new fairing and how much are you saving by buying a used HD fairing? I'm only asking to make sure you've considered if the savings are really worth it. In case something goes wrong with the install your used HD fairing might run over budget, canceling some or all of the monetary savings.

Now, if you're doing it because you want uniqueness, then it's a totally different story. But if you're doing it just to save money...

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

If your doing this just for a radio you know there is speakers out there that bolts to your bars and you can do a Ipod thing.
Go to a swap meet and price a used faring out. Maybe sat a way from ones with cracks in them. You;ll have to make it fit by modifying the headlight hole and you'll have to make your own mounting brackets just for the faring and then you'll have to make something for the radio and speakers. If you don't have the tools or buddies to help your going to waist your time and money.
I'm not saying you can't do it its just going to be easy cause nothing will fit.
If it were me I would get a second job and by a radio faring that comes with the bracket and housing. There out there but they will not look right on your bike and you'll want it to be a quick release so you can be cool when your in town and a dresser when your out of town.

Default Fairings

I have been planning to add a batwing fairing to my touring cruiser, which I believe is the same as the old v92's.
I have looked over a batwing fairing that was made for a kingpin, and it looks like it would fit the v92's, but a mounting kit is not available for the v92's.
Does anyone know anyone who has done this?
I would like to know how well the batwing fits and how big a job it was to add one of these.
Also would like to know if the switch is worth the time and money compared to the original windshield, (leave well enough alone).

I have the Wide Open Customs fairing with the 5 1/2 inch black windshield on my '02 Touring Cruiser. Not sure what your budget is, but in my opinion this is the way to go. Much easier than buying something used/not made for your bike and trying to make it fit. I've had my fairing installed for a year now, and haven't had any problems with it at all, not that I was expecting to. Pics to follow....
